Ms. Miller provided a brief overview of an application submitted for the property located
at 839 SE 5th Street. The applicant is proposing the roof solar panels. The State Statute
prohibits the Board from denying the request; however, the Board can recommend
relocation or design of the solar panels.
Ms. Alesha Wilson, 839 SE 5th Street, Ocala, FL, talked about the cost saving benefits
of solar panels. The vendor determined the proper locations to install the proposed solar

panels. The panels will not fit on the south elevation of the roof, and they have not
explored color solar panel options at this time.
Ms. Miller stated that she believes that residents with solar panels must still pay the
electric company a monthly fee.
Mr. Holmes expressed concern regarding the visual impact on the south primary
elevation. He recommended the applicant choose an alternative color and submit solar
panel information to the Board.
Ms.Miller recommended the applicant invite the agent to attend the next meeting.
The Board agreed to table discussion until more information is received.

Ms. Miller provided a brief overview of an application submitted for the property located
at 222 SE 13th Avenue. The applicant is proposed to install new windows.
Mr. Jerry Stevens, 933 SE 12th Place, Ocala, FL, requested Board approval to install
Marvin brand windows. The window design has a fiber glass exterior to emulate a Clad
product, with a dimensional muntin and wood interior finish. He identified several
window brands with similar materials and dimensions, such as Marvin and Colby.
Motion to approve COA23-45219, HPDG Chapter 1V-Windows, Pgs. IV-1 to IV-8.

Ms. Miller stated that the property owner Joe Carvalho, located at 719 SE 2nd Street, installed a

privacy fence without the Board approval. The application will come before the Board for
approval in October.

Ms. Ausley gave recognition to Mr. Smith for the research he presented to the Board. She
encouraged Board Members to attend the HOPS window workshop.
Ms. Miller said she sent invitation out because the board will be working closer with HOPS. She
explained how State Statutes are primary authority, and the code amendment process. The City
will provide more information regarding the use of solar panels to the Board before the next
meeting.
