Page 2 of 5  City of Ocean Shores Radio Board Mee�ng Minutes For Tuesday, January 23, 2024 At Ocean Shores Library, 573 Point Brown Ave. NW, Ocean Shores, WA 98569 Call to order: 10:30 am by Radio Board Chair Johnny Gargano. Roll Call: Present – Johnny Gargano, Rosanne Santoro, Darrel Prowse, and Marilyn Ferguson. Excused from atending – Marty Hadfield. Approval of the January 23, 2024, Agenda. MSP Minutes for November 28, 2023, mee�ng: Under Board Member Reports, Darrell Prowse made a mo�on to amend the minutes removing the part that says basketball games “will be replayed when there is a City Council Mee�ng that happens at the same �me as the game” from his Board Member report. MSP. (The November minutes have been amended) Public Comment: 4 members of the public in person and 3 via Zoom. No public comment. Reports: 1. Sta�on Managers Reports • Trey Smith – sta�on switched from 91.3 FM to 88.9 FM and now has expanded coverage but now some areas locally are having difficulty ge�ng the signal. This will be discussed with Marty Hadfield when he returns. The backup transmiter has been shipped off to be refurbished. A back up, backup transmiter is in the public works shed. The tower lost power and had to be switched to the back up transmiter at the sta�on manually. They are working on a way that will automa�cally switch to the backup transmiter if a power outage occurrs and a way to have backup power at the tower that automa�cally switches on if power goes out at the tower. Working on ge�ng new call signs recorded by the volunteers. Trey is working on the 4th quarter report for Sound Exchange. 2. Radio Sta�on Financials: Sarah Logan included report with the Agenda and Darrell Prowse presented it. 3. Board Member Reports: • Marty Hadfield: Not present • Darrell Prowse: Spent 2 full days out of 5 trying to get the sound system at the Conven�on Center working and finally had to call the vendor to get it repaired. Three more boys’ basketball games and one more girls’ game le� to cover for the season unless the boys go to district finals. Butch and Darrell are planning on atending the Washington State Associa�on of Broadcasters mee�ng on 2/15/24 in Olympia. Also, on 2/15/24 there will be an event at the Conven�on center on how to do fund raising for non-profits and how to make non-profits successful. At the last City Council mee�ng it was decided to change the Council mee�ng dates to the 2nd and 4th Tuesdays of the month. The radio sta�on will con�nue covering these mee�ngs but next year there will be no basketball coverage on those days. • Rosanne Santoro: No report. • Marilyn Ferguson: Kudos to the radio sta�on and all the dee jays for the way they got informa�on out to the public about weather forecasts, power outages, road closures and other informa�on during the Polar Express weather event. • Johnny Gargano: Relayed from several listeners owning property in OS but living elsewhere about how grateful they are with the sta�on’s repor�ng of the weather condi�ons and current events. Old Business: None New Business: None Discussion: Jane Shatuck asked why the radio sta�on didn’t get no�fica�on of the water main break out over the air. Trey Smith commented that if there is a Tsunami warning the radio sta�on may be the only informa�on available. Need to encourage people to get batery operated radios in case of emergencies. 1.
