Page 2 of 23  City of Ocean Shores Radio Board Meeting Minutes For Tuesday, August 27, 2024 At Ocean Shores Library 573 Point Brown Ave. NW, Ocean Shores, WA 98569 Call to order: 10:30 am by Interim Radio Board Chair, Patrick Wendlandt Roll Call: Present – Marty Hadfield, Rosanna Santoro, Marilyn Ferguson and Patrick Wendlandt. Approval of the August 27, 2024, agenda MSP. Minutes for July 23, 2024, meeting: Approved with correction of Hijacks to Hyaks. MSP. Public Comment: 1 member of the public via Zoom. No public comment except for no audio at beginning of meeting which was corrected. Reports: 1. Chair’s Report – Reading rules on how to do his new position as Chair and will cover other things later in discussion. 2. Station Report Managers Report Butch Larson – Thanked all the volunteers that helped with the Hog Wild and Airport Appreciation events. Both events went well. Looking for volunteers to move the insulation from the shed at the station to the tower. Won’t be simulcasting the Hyaks game with North Beach TV this time because Darrell is out. The Hyaks game changed from Friday night to Saturday. A new DJ, Dr. Paul, goes solo on Wednesday from 9:00 pm to midnight. 3. Technology Report Marty Hadfield - Good feedback from the community about KOSW both at the Airport Appreciation event and IGA. FEMA is not performing an emergency alert test in 2024 but requires a form 1 to be filled out describing the type of equipment the stations have available and must be turned in by October 4th. Still working on getting monthly emergency testing done by the OS police and fire department. Discussing how to get emergency alerts out to the public if the internet and phone systems go down such as using a hot spot. 4. Council Liaison Report Denise Siers – Thanked the KOSW station volunteers for showing up at the Airport Appreciation event and for the music that was played. Liked the new KOSW survey that is on the station site. Suggested that the station get on the agenda to give staff reports at City Council meetings. 1. Patrick Wendlandt discussed the budget and requested prior monthly reports back for at least a year and a half to help come up with a new budget to submit to the City Council on 9/10/24. 6. I hear songs that I havent heard in years and may have forgotten about that were favorites at the time and it brings me back to high school, college and present, so many great memories in these songs. Your DJ's work hard to bring all this to the listeners and it is amazing! I don't even mind the commercials and I have never been to Ocean Shore but I feel like I have as a listener.
