City of Margaret April 16th, 2024 5:58 P.M. In Attendance: Pro- Tem McIntyre, Councilman Ray, Councilman Tortorice and Councilman Chapman Not in attendance: Mayor Isaac Howard and Councilman Crump Pro-Tem McIntyre called meeting to order Opening in Prayer: Mr. Beverly Pledge of Allegiance Discussion: First, on the agenda is Redistricting. Councilman Tortorice would like to move forward with a Public Hearing. Councilman Chapman requested more time to look over the maps. Clyde Beverly asked for a deferment since Mayor was not present at the meeting. Clyde Beverly states the EDC has corrected the matter and now references The City of Margaret. Mr. Barker asked for more time on Old Acton Road, so he could speak with the County Engineers. Councilman Ray made motion to approve 2 ½ foot variance at 175 Stevens Cove it was seconded by Councilman Chapman. The motion was passed unanimously. Councilman Ray made motion to table Sewer Truck it was seconded by Councilman Chapman. The motion was passed unanimously. Councilman Ray made motion to table Ronnie Street tree until they have a bid it was seconded by Councilman Chapman. The motion was passed unanimously. The council let Mr. Harvey know that they will need something in writing to move forward with accepting Lakeside Drive. Mr. Harvey states he will have a letter sent. Councilman Tortorice discusses his goals for Margaret. Discussion included showing maps, annexing for Fire and Police, RPC, EDC and County Commission. Councilman Ray thanks Public Works for installing speed humps and states that the Police Cars look good. Police Chief Fields gave the Council his proposed budget and step raise proposal. Citizens thanked for the pothole patching on Clover Street. Citizen Freddie Parham expressed his concerns about the train on Sanie Road. Citizen Beverly Clyde expressed his concerns with the RPC and future development opportunities. Councilman Chapman made motion to adjourn, and it was seconded by Pro-Tem McIntyre.
