Minutes Beach Nourishment Committee Meeting February 20, 2023 Meeting called to order by Sandy Boyer 6:37 P.M. at OD Town Hall Attendees: Sandy Boyer, Bruce Boyer, John Lawicki, Peter Mavrelis, Paul Panther, C.J. Jackson, Michele Bonneau, Chuck Sheaff, Al Hallane The minutes of the January meeting were approved. Reports: Sandy Permitting- The requests for permitting have been submitted to the appropriate agencies and we hope to obtain a response by early spring. Public notices of the planed revetment project informing home owners along the north side of shore drive have been delivered to each home owner either personally or by mail. Reconciliation letters have been mailed to home owners on the east end of shore drive informing them of refunds or monies due for the emergency revetment work done in 2020. Litigation/Mitigation We are in a waiting period regarding a final decision on mitigation for the 2020 emergency revetment project. We discussed Ind code 8-10-1-20 which specifies that the public or private property destroyed by the Port of Indiana should be restored and decided to pursue this at a later time once the permit for the new revetment has been secured. New Business: Much discussion on funding for the construction and maintenance of the revetment occurred. Ideas included establishing a 501c3 tax free fund and asking for donation. Others suggested a public relations campaign asking for donation for sand and revetment for accessways. Another was to ask for additional monies from the home owner organization specifically for beach maintenance. We all agreed that we should ask our engineers to give us a cost estimate for each homeowner and for the total of all accessways revetment as soon as possible.
