Beach Nourishment Committee Meeting

Minutes Beach Nourishment Committee Meeting March 21, 2023 Meeting called to order by Sandy Boyer 6:33 P.M. at OD Fire House Attendees: Sandy Boyer, Bruce Boyer, John Lawicki, Peter Mavrelis, Paul Panther, C.J. Jackson, Michele Bonneau, Al Hallane, Scott Kingan, David Schneider (remote). The minutes of the February meeting were approved. Reports: Sandy- 1. The Army Corps of Engineers and our engineer Dan will be out this week to determine the average highwater mark. This will allow the permitting process to begin. Cost estimates for the stone revetment will follow. 2. Discussion was made on how to handle donation monies from home owners and establishing a 501c3 fund was suggested. 3. Informing home owners on the north side of Shore drive should be done as small groups once we have the estimated pricing for the project for each home owner. Questions to have answered will include if partial revetment will be permitted and can revetment be placed at a later time 4. The general town homeowners will have a general meeting planned. Peter- Long Range Plan for the beach should include near term plans as well as plans five to ten years out. This will be discussed at next month’s meeting and will include more information on the new state law requiring beach safety measures. Allan- Resilient Coastal Projects Initiative has monies for coastal communities to have ecofriendly projects such as rock reefs that promote wildlife and fish habitat. More information will be forthcoming. David and Bruce- There is no ordinance for the placement of snow fencing. Discussion regarding what will be permitted to remain on the beach over night was also discussed. The cement bags the were placed long ago could be moved as an addition to the current revetment. Scott- 1. The final reconciliation for the east end project will be sent out this week. 2. Final litigation on the issues of mediation for the east end project are close to settlement.
