Beach Nourishment Committee Meeting January 21, 2025 Meeting called to order by Sandy Boyer 6:33 P.M. on zoom Attendees: Sandy Boyer, Bruce Boyer, John Lawicki, Peter Mavrelis, Paul Panther, Al Halline , David Snyder,Michele Bonneau, Scott Kingan, CJ Jackson Minutes of the December meeting were approved. REPORTS: Reconciliation: Scott Three owners from the east end project still owe monies. Final letters will be sent. Litigation: Scott OD vs USACE and NPS and state of Indiana DNR: All parties are in agreement to settle all ongoing disputes quickly and amicably. We have asked the courts for a summary judgement regarding the lawsuit with save the dunes. CJ asked about indemnification on the central project. Scott pointed out that settlement with the NPS and working above the high water mark will make any future lawsuits very unlikely. Construction: Bruce Two bids have been received and two more are pending. The costs are very close to the estimates from our engineer. Access 18 will be the entry point for the trucks. Rocks will be place first at the west end on the beach away from the homes. A front loader will then load on to a second truck which will take the stones to each location where a second front loader will place the stones into their final position. Access 18 will be restored to its original condition at the end of the project. Donations: Sandy She will continue to talk to some homeowners on an individual basis about the project. It is hoped that once the project starts more homeowners will participate. There was no new business and meeting was adjourned at 7:03 Next meeting Feb 18 Peter Mavrelis

Reports: Reconciliation - Scott Litigation & Mitigation - Scott • Save the Dunes • Brack • OD v USACE & NPS Construction next steps and timeline - Bruce Donations for shore protection– Sandy • Keep in mind that donations for shore protection are needed before we purchase stairs. o The revetment is finished at accesses 7, 16, 17, and 19. o The funds to restore Access 18 after the shore protection goes in will be covered by participating homeowners. o We have commitments for 12, half of 14, and probably 9. o We need 8, 10, 11, 13, and half of 14. o Paul asked attendees at the most recent Lion’s club meeting to donate. We are hopeful of donations and thankful to Paul. • I have stopped reaching out to homeowners with estimates since we are close to getting real numbers for donations in sections 2 and 3. Of those I spoke to, only two homeowners said that they will not participate. One of those two got rocks when the west end was done in 2021. Most people have been receptive. EZ Beach Steps – Sandy • The steps at access 7will need to extend farther north after the rocks go in. We have all or most of the the funding. • We have an additional platform piece in storage for access 9. We hope that is sufficient. • We also have funding for access 12. • We received $3,000 in donations for steps in other places.
