General Code Review Committee Meeting Minutes Tuesday January 28, 2025, 7pm Town Hall, Ogden Dunes Member Present Member Present Jim Slawinski, Chair, 2026 X Mimi Ramos, 2027 X David Hollar, Sec, 2025 X Bob Schwartz, 2026 A Eric Fried, Co-Chair, 2027 X Doug Cannon, TC Member (2028) X Mike Shaefer, 2025 X Richard Hassan, 2026 X Meeting called to order 707 pm– Approval of Minutes of the Tuesday, Aug 24 meeting – Unanimous consent Officers/Meeting Schedule: Appointment of Officers: By unanimous consent, Jim will serve as Chair. Eric will serve as Co-Chair. Dave will serve as Secretary. Meeting Plan for 2025: Committee plans to meet every other month (4th Tuesday, 7 pm, Town Hall). Other meetings may be scheduled as needed. Old Business: Proposed Ordinance re: Duty of Maintaining Land. Issue has been discussed at Town Council but no resolution yet reached. Proposed Repeal of Trespass Ordinance. Issue remains pending with Town Council. Recommendations re: Town Committee Members & Term Limits. Discussion regarding ordinance on committees. GCR recommends that the limitation to two terms on town committees be repealed. Reaffirm the need for staggered terms, 3 year terms, and 3-7 members per committee (excluding liaisons and excluding temporary committees). Jim will prepare draft ordinance for review at next meeting. Signs Ordinance (824): Time limits for political signs should be amended to 60 days before and 6 days after to comply with state law. New Business Dogs on Beach: Committee reviewed the current ordinance at request of Town Council. Committee recommends leaving existing ordinance as is. Items left on Beach Issues (Ordinance 904): Ordinance has worked relatively well. Some discussion about adding fines or posting signs at Access 14 or 18 to alert people to the ordinance. 1  Possible 2025 Summer Preparation: Recommendation to send out letter or other form of announcement in April 2025 reminding residents of summer/beach ordinances. Member Comments Speed Limits: Doug discussed possibility of placing 3-way stop signs at major Shore Drive intersections (Tamarack, Diana, Cedar, and East Hill). Jim suggested a possible alternative would be one or more electric speed limit signs. Cones have been used on Shore in the past but may make the street too narrow.
