Beach Nourishment Committee Meeting February 18, 2025
Meeting called to order by Sandy Boyer 6:35 P.M. at the Town Hall Office Conference

Minutes of the January meeting were approved.
Beach Preservation Project: Sandy
Bruce presented the cost estimates for beach preservation rock placement for all
homes and accessways involved in the central section. He explained that G.E. Marshall
of Valparaiso will be the contractor for the project. Sandy explained that further
documents will be presented to participating homeowners for signature. All monies will
be collected and placed with the title company before the project begins. As the project
progresses, the contractor will receive payment once the engineer inspects and
approves the work. There will be a 10% hold on all work until the project ends. If other
homeowners want to participate after the project starts, they can be added to the project
when they pay their share of the project. We discussed that the stairs at accessway 14
will be removed to allow work at that location. Hopefully further donations will be
collected for a new stairway to be placed at that location. Much discussion followed and
all questions were answered to the satisfaction of members of the committee. Thanks
was given to Sandy and Bruce for their time and expertise in bringing this project
forward.

• Costs
o Rocks & Sand placed finalized
o Marram grass – we have one bid and have requested a second
o GZA - $45,000 was loaned by 8 homeowners, Approx $23,000 - $24,000 will be on the last
contract
o We are likely to need a porta john.
• Complete documents – few days
• Distribute packets of documents to donors
• Donors fund their escrow accounts at the title company and return signed documents – 2 wks
• Construction –
o Prep access 18
o Rock Placement
o Restore access 18
• Finalize costs and return excess funds
Donations for shore protection– Sandy
We have donations for four and one half accessways.
• Keep in mind that donations for shore protection are needed before we purchase stairs.
o The revetment is finished at accesses 7, 16, 17, and 19.
o The funds to restore Access 18 after the shore protection goes in will be covered by
participating homeowners.
o We have commitments for 12, half of 14, 8, and probably 9.
o We need 10, 11, 13, and half of 14.
EZ Beach Steps – Sandy
• The steps at access 7will need to extend farther north after the rocks go in. We have all or most of
the funding because there were excess donations.
• We have an additional platform piece in storage for access 9. We hope that is sufficient.
• We have funding for steps at 12.
• We received $3,000 in donations for steps in other places.
Next meeting: 6:30, March 18 in the conference room of the Town Hall.
