Environmental Advisory Board Meeting

Ogden Dunes Environmental Advisory Board Town Hall, September 19th, 2023, 5:30 p.m. Attendees: Bianca Angarola, Karl Krizmanic, Frank Lani, Tom Davenport, Sue Adams No agenda additions Prior minutes approved. Adams moved; Frank seconded IAWC (Indiana American Water Company) The 2021 inspection revealed careless inspection problems for which the company was fined. No information regarding water quality problems. OD receives an annual report. Long Lake Marsh July 29 event: Sue Mihalo to ID native/invasive plants. The event is funded by a community fund grant. October event (date TBA) to spread seed in the marsh. Save the Dunes pollution protection Next year 2/3 of the mills must renew their permits and we should be involved. Nearby industries No new information Lighting Shades installed and no complaints (at least while the foliage is still on the trees) Bird town Frank Lani has been handling this application through the National Audubon Society. The application fee is $125, and the deadline is January 1st. The resolution is to be presented to the Town Council. Septic issues Vicky will post re septic awareness week. We might send info regarding maintenance via email or in the water bill Beach water quality Only comment is that Carson did an excellent job. An objection has been raised by a resident that the water quality sign at the town entrance is unsightly and should be moved. This idea was met with concern that to move it would jeopardize clear notice to people entering town. Recycling Karl noted that the bin does not have a convenient slot to encourage smashing cardboard boxes. At the close of the meeting, Bianca said that she would be stepping down as chair of EABOD at the end of the year. Tom Davenport said that he would be willing to step up. Sue moved to adjourn.
