Zoom Meeting Welcome and Call to Order – Camille Washington, Chair • Approval of February Minutes • Edit to the February minute heading requested o Motion to approve – Leon Araujo o 2nd motion – Joel Kitamura • FY 2025 Arts Grants Update – Lorie Buckley • Final Funding Recommendations o Reviewed Arts Grants Subcommittee funding recommendations for the 2024-2025 Arts Grants cycle. 1. Recommendations allocate 56% of funding to general operations requests and 44% to project support. 2. 4 applications are not recommended for funding. a. Reviewed applicant feedback process and offered general feedback on applications not recommended for funding. o Discussed Arts Grants Subcommittee application review process, scoring rubric, timeline, and City transmittal process. o Encouraged discussions with Ogden City’s Mayor and City Council to increase annual arts grants funding allocation given repeated history of funding requests exceeding allocations. o Motion: 1. Motion to approve Arts Grants Funding Recommendations – Jan Hamer 2. 2nd Motion – Leon Araujo 3. Abstention – Camille Washington  4. Motion passes to approve Arts Grants Subcommittee’s 2024-2025 Arts Grants funding recommendations. • Weber County RAMP Funding Petition – Lorie Buckley • Discussed Weber County RAMP funding ordinance. o This ordinance will be on the ballot during the 2024 election year. • Considered advocacy strategy to change Weber County RAMP funding structure to include general support requests. • Proposed conversation with Shelly Halacy, Director of Weber County RAMP. • Marshall White Center Public Art Update – Lorie Buckley and Jake McIntire • Reviewed Marshall White Center Public Art Subcommittee members and process. o 180 applications received, reviewed, and scored by Subcommittee o 6 finalists will be interviewed within the week ▪ A final artist(s) will be selected by the Marshall White Center Public Art Subcommittee the following week. • Reviewed public art maintenance funds available to maintain artwork throughout the facility. • Project may propose other opportunities for local artist to contribute to artwork throughout the building. • Status update provided on the proposed Lollipop Project. • Ogden-Hinckley Airport Ribbon Cutting Recap – Lorie Buckley and Shane Osguthorpe • Event was held February 22, 2024. o Included public art unveiling throughout the facility. • Reviewed Breeze Airways flight schedule out of Ogden-Hinckley Airport. • Ogden Downtown Alliance OCAAC Representative – Lorie Buckley • Jessica Marine has stepped down from Ogden Downtown Alliance (ODA). o Creates ODA liaison vacancy on OCAAC. • Conversations to fill this vacancy will begin shortly. • Sub-Committees: • Executive – Camille Washington o Did not attend this month’s Ogden CAN meeting. o Revisited Weber County RAMP advocacy strategies. • Nine Rails Creative District – Leon Araujo o Considering shifting function of this Subcommittee to address the review of the Nine Rails Creative District Master Plan. • Literary – Jan Hamer o Ogden City Poet Laureate’s term ends in June. ▪ Will inquire with current Poet Laureate, Angelika Brewer, about interest in a second term. o Happy Magpie will be hosting mini writers’ retreats in the near future. • Arts Grants – Shane Osguthorpe o Expressed gratitude for Subcommittee’s recent work. • Public Art – Jake McIntire o Provided updates about the Salt Lake Arts Council’s “Wake the Great Salt Lake” initiative supported by Bloomberg Philanthropies. ▪ Interest to engage Ogden City’s Mayor given his personal interest and connections to Utah’s Division of Wildlife Resources. • Considered garnering support for Ogden City’s involvement in a regional art contribution to this initiative via the minor public art fund.  o Explored connections to the Dia Art Foundation via the Spiral Jetty and Sun Tunnels for collaboration; Arts Committee in Box Edler County; and Indigenous community. • Committee Member Updates • 3/14 – Wake the Great Salt Lake Grants information session with the Salt Lake Arts Council • 3/14 – Onstage Ogden presents “Peter and Wolf” • 3/15 – The Proper Way performs at Lighthouse Lounge • 3/15 – “Indigenous Soundscapes in Motion” presented at Weber State University • 3/16 – River Writing Series “Songs Along the Water Shed” held at Antelope Island • 3/23 – OnStage Ogden presents Chad Lawson at The Monarch • 3/29 – Copper and Oak Concert at Copper Nickel Events • 4/19 – Brenn Hill concert at Copper Nickel Events • Public Questions & Attendance • Attendance: MJ Merkley and Missy Ames Adjourn There being no further business to come before the Committee, Committee member Jan Hamer moved the meeting adjourn.
