CALL TO ORDER The meeting was called to order at 8:30 a.m. 1.A ROLL CALL Present: 3 - Chair Linda Villegas Bremer, Commissioner Reiko Callner, and Commissioner Oscar Soule STAFF PRESENT Amy Cleveland, Chief Examiner/Secretary Cyndi Cox, Office Specialist III, Human Resources 2. APPROVAL OF MINUTES 2.A 13-0647 Approval of May 21, 2013 Civil Service Commission Meeting Minutes Commissioner Callner moved, seconded by Commissioner Soule, to approve the minutes. The motion carried by the following vote: Aye: 3 - Chair Villegas Bremer, Commissioner Callner and Commissioner Soule 2.B 13-0646 Approval of June 14, 2013 Civil Service Commission Meeting Minutes Commissioner Callner moved, seconded by Commissioner Soule, to approve the minutes. The motion carried by the following vote: Aye: 3 - Chair Villegas Bremer, Commissioner Callner and Commissioner Soule 2.C 13-0649 Approval of July 5, 2013 Civil Service Commission Meeting Minutes Commissioner Callner moved, seconded by Commissioner Soule, to approve the minutes. BUSINESS ITEMS 3.A 13-0648 Approval of Entry Level Police Officer Register Ms. Cleveland gave background information regarding the entry level police officer recruitment. Continued efforts are being made to reach out to the community members from neighborhood associations, the Olympia Downtown Association, and retirees for participation on the interview panels for future recruitments. Seven candidates were placed on the register and ranked according to their scores. Commissioner Soule moved, seconded by Commissioner Callner, to approve the register. The motion carried by the following vote: Aye: 3 - Chair Villegas Bremer, Commissioner Callner and Commissioner Soule 3.B 13-0650 Approval of Advanced Entry Police Officer Register Ms. Cleveland gave background information regarding the advanced level police officer recruitment. Three candidates were placed and ranked on the advanced Police Officer register according to their scores. Commissioner Callner moved, seconded by Commissioner Soule, to approve and certify the advanced level police officer register effective August 20, 2013. The motion carried by the following vote: Aye: 3 - Chair Villegas Bremer, Commissioner Callner and Commissioner Soule 3.C 13-0652 Approval of Fire Lieutenant Recruitment Process Ms. Cleveland gave background information regarding the proposed fire lieutenant recruitment process. Commissioner Callner moved, seconded by Commissioner Soule, to approve the fire lieutenant recruitment process. The motion carried by the following vote: Aye: 3 - Chair Villegas Bremer, Commissioner Callner and Commissioner Soule 4. REPORTS 4.A 13-0651 Removal of Names from Entry Level Police Officer Register Chief Roberts requested five candidates to be removed from the entry level police officer register. The specific reasons for removal of names were reviewed by the Secretary-Examiner, and in each case the reason was determined to be supported by factual and verifiable information.
