CALL TO ORDER Chair Payne called the meeting to order at 5:30 p.m. 2. ROLL CALL Present: 3 - Chair Dontae Payne, Committee member Yến Huỳnh and Committee member Cheryl Selby 3. APPROVAL OF AGENDA The agenda was approved. 4. PUBLIC COMMENT - None 5. APPROVAL OF MINUTES 5.A 22-0795 Approval of July 27, 2022 Community Livability and Public Safety Committee Meeting Minutes The minutes were approved. 6. COMMITTEE BUSINESS 6.A 22-0521 Recommendation for Outgoing Advisory Board and Commission Member Recognition Arts Program Manager Stephanie Johnson presented a recommendation regarding outgoing advisory board and commission member recognition. Committee members discussed the proposal and asked clarifying questions. Committee member Selby moved, seconded by Committee member Huỳnh, to approve the recommendation for recognition of outgoing City advisory board and commission members beginning with the 2023 advisory committee process. The motion carried by the following vote: City of Olympia Page 1 Community Livability and Public Meeting Minutes August 24, 2022 Safety Committee Aye: 3 - Chair Payne, Committee member Huỳnh and Committee member Selby 6.B 22-0788 Discussion of Applicants to Fill Vacancies on the Police Use of Force Event Board Strategic Communications Director Kellie Purce Braseth discussed the vacancies of non-law enforcement community representatives to the Independent Investigative Teams (IIT) as required by Initiative 940. Committee members asked clarifying questions and agreed to move forward with interviewing several community members who applied to the positions previously. The Committee will interview Adan Espino and Sarah Nagy at a future Committee meeting. 7. REPORTS AND UPDATES Assistant City Manager Debbie Sullivan discussed the Committee meeting schedule in November and December. She noted the November meeting falls the day before Thanksgiving and the December meeting falls between Christmas and New Years Eve. The Committee agreed to combine their November and December meetings and meet on November 9. 8. ADJOURNMENT The meeting adjourned at 6:26 p.m. City of Olympia Page 2
