CALL TO ORDER Chair Huỳnh called the meeting to order at: 5:32 p.m. 2. ROLL CALL Present: 3 - Chair Yến Huỳnh, Committee member Dontae Payne and Committee member Cheryl Selby 3. APPROVAL OF AGENDA The agenda was approved. 4. PUBLIC COMMENT - None 5. APPROVAL OF MINUTES 5.A 23-0750 Approval of August 23, 2023 Community Livability and Public Safety Committee Meeting Minutes The minutes were approved. 6. COMMITTEE BUSINESS 6.A 23-0839 Youth Council Recommendations Assistant to the City Manager Susan Grisham, Truclusion Senior Manager Dane Wolfrm, Truclusion Principal Yien Folino, Olympia Youth Representatives Tre Simons and Christine Zhang, and Olympia Youth Advisor Gavin Cruz presented the Youth Council recommendations. The Committee asked clarifying questions and discussed term recommendations for the youth selected to serve on the Youth Council. Committee member Selby moved, seconded by Committee member Payne, to approve the recommendations to be forwarded to the full City Council for approval.The motion carried by the following vote: City of Olympia Page 1 Community Livability and Public Meeting Minutes September 27, 2023 Safety Committee Aye: 3 - Chair Huỳnh, Committee member Payne and Committee member Selby 6.B 23-0824 Independent Salary Commission Referral Discussion Human Resources Director Linnaea Jablonski presented the discussion on the Independent Salary Commission referral. The Committee discussed the referral, asked clarifying questions and directed staff to write a draft process of the Independent Salary Commission based on the discussion to present at a future Community Livability and Public Safety Committee meeting for the Committee's reaction. The discussion was completed. 7. REPORTS AND UPDATES Chair Huỳnh asked fellow Committee members for their approval to change the October 25, 2023 Community Livability and Public Safety Committee meeting to a start time of 5:00 p.m. This change was requested in order to accommodate a Committee member's calendar conflict on that date. Committee member Selby and Committee member Payne agreed to the suggested time change. 8. ADJOURNMENT The meeting was adjourned at 7:32 p.m. City of Olympia Page 2
