CALL TO ORDER The meeting was called to order at 10:10 a.m. 2. INTRODUCTIONS Others Present: Mayor Pro Tem Nathaniel Jones, Councilmember, City of Olympia Michelle Sadlier, Historic Preservation Officer, City of Olympia Leonard Bauer, Deputy Director of Community Planning & Development, City of Olympia Heather Youckton, Community Member Stephen F. Austin, Community Member Janine Unsoeld, Community Member Vida Zvirzdys-Farler, Director, Olympia Downtown Association Present: 8 - Chair Holly Davies, Vice Chair Dwayne Harkness, Commissioner Mary Coacher, Commissioner Benjamin Helle, Commissioner Patricia McLain, Commissioner Garner Miller, Commissioner Rachel Newmann, and Commissioner Nicholas Vann Excused: 2 - Commissioner Luke Howard, and Commissioner Mark Rentfrow 3. REVIEW OF DRAFT WORK PLAN 3.A 15-0170 Review and Approval of Draft 2015 Olympia Heritage Commission Work Plan Ms. Sadlier led a discussion with Heritage Commissioners on their proposed 2015 Work Plan. Ms. Sadlier noted that the revised draft would be submitted to the General Government Committee for review prior to City Council approval by April 1, 2015. Commissioner McLain moved, seconded by Commissioner Coacher, to approve the draft of the proposed 2015 Olympia Heritage Commission Work Plan with amendments. 4. LUNCH City of Olympia Page 1 Heritage Commission Meeting Minutes February 21, 2015 Lunch included an informal discussion of potential nominees for the 2015 Preservation Award. 5. WORKSHOP ON DOWNTOWN HISTORIC DISTRICT 5.A 15-0171 Workshop on Olympia Downtown Historic District Ms. Sadlier presented background on historic districts at the local and national level. The discussion included a review of how boundaries are determined and the distinction between "contributing" and "non-contributing" properties. Groups took a walking tour of the Olympia Downtown Historic District and focused on boundaries and contributing status. The workshop ended with a discussion. 6.
