CALL TO ORDER The meeting was called to order at 5:30 p.m. 1.A ROLL CALL Present: 3 - Chair Jim Cooper, Boardmember Jack Seward, and Boardmember David Threedy Excused: 2 - Vice Chair Jeannine Roe, and Boardmember John O'Neill 2. APPROVAL OF MINUTES 2.A 14-0574 Approval of May 19, 2014 LEOFF 1 Disability Board Special Meeting Minutes Boardmember Seward moved, seconded by Boardmember Threedy, to approve the minutes of May 19, 2014. The motion carried by the following vote: Aye: 3 - Chair Cooper, Boardmember Seward and Boardmember Threedy Excused: 2 - Vice Chair Roe and Boardmember O'Neill 3. REPORTS 3.A 14-0573 LEOFF 1 Regence Med Advantage Plan Change The City has decided to switch over to a new health insurance plan for the LEOFF 1 Regence members in the near future. Representatives from Association of Washington Cities (AWC, the City's third party administrator for health insurance) provided the board members with information about a new healthcare plan through Regence called Med Advantage. The new plan has been designed to cover Medicare covered services and prescriptions at 100%, with no copay or deductible. This is a no-risk option for the LEOFF 1 members and the Board, and the City may save a significant amount on the overall premium cost. The City intends to ask City Council to direct any cost savings to a long-term disability account to assist with paying the costs of long-term care should a LEOFF 1 member need such care. The City will continue to pay for medically necessary procedures not covered by Medicare or the Med Advantage plan. AWC will allow the LEOFF 1 retirees to transfer from Group Health to the Med Advantage plan, but they are not required to do so. At the request City of Olympia Page 1 LEOFF I Disability Board Meeting Minutes June 9, 2014 of Board member Seward, the City will work with AWC to set up a presentation for all interested LEOFF 1 members about the new plan. The meeting will be held in Olympia at a date to be determined. At the conclusion of the presentation, the Board indicated by consensus that they supported the move by the City to the new health insurance plan called Med Advantage. 4.
