ROLL CALL Present: 7 - President Jim Cooper, Vice President Jeannine Roe, Boardmember Jessica Bateman, Boardmember Clark Gilman, Boardmember Julie Hankins, Boardmember Nathaniel Jones, and Boardmember Cheryl Selby 2. APPROVAL OF AGENDA The agenda was approved. 4. PUBLIC COMMENT Jerry Reilly and Allen Miller spoke. 5. PUBLIC HEARING 5.A 16-1177 Public Hearing on the Olympia Metropolitan Park District (OMPD) Ad Valorem Tax OMPD Treasurer Jane Kirkemo provided a summary about setting the initial ad valorem tax. Boardmembers asked clarifying questions. President Cooper opened the public hearing. Jerry Reilly, Allen Miller, and Bob Jacobs spoke. President Cooper closed the public hearing. Vice President Roe moved, seconded by Boardmember Selby, to direct staff to prepare an ad valorem property tax resolution in the amount of $3,346,646. The motion carried by the following vote: Aye: 7 - President Cooper, Vice President Roe, Boardmember Bateman, Boardmember Gilman, Boardmember Hankins, Boardmember Jones and Boardmember Selby 5.B 16-1176 Public Hearing on the 2017 Preliminary Olympia Metropolitan Park District (OMPD) Budget Parks, Arts and Recreation Director Paul Simmons provided a summary of the 2017 OMPD budget. BOARD BUSINESS 6.A 16-1191 Approval of Olympia Metropolitan Park District (OMPD) September 13 Meeting Minutes The minutes were approved. 6.B 16-1178 Approval of Resolution to Establish the 2017 Olympia Metropolitan Park District (OMPD) Meeting Schedule Parks, Arts and Recreation Director Paul Simmons summarized 2017 proposed meetings. Boardmember Jones moved, seconded by Boardmember Selby, to approve the resolution to establish the presented 2017 OMPD meeting schedule. The motion carried by the following vote: Aye: 7 - President Cooper, Vice President Roe, Boardmember Bateman, Boardmember Gilman, Boardmember Hankins, Boardmember Jones and Boardmember Selby 6.C 16-0257 Approval of Resolution to Require Record Checks for Certain Employees, Volunteers, and Independent Contractors of the Olympia Metropolitan Park District (OMPD) Parks, Arts and Recreation Director Paul Simmons provided a summary of the proposed resolution. Boardmembers asked clarifying questions. Boardmember Hankins moved, seconded by Vice President Roe, to approve the resolution to require record checks for certain employees, volunteers, and independent contractors of the OMPD. The motion carried by the following vote: Aye: 7 - President Cooper, Vice President Roe, Boardmember Bateman, Boardmember Gilman, Boardmember Hankins, Boardmember Jones and Boardmember Selby 7. REPORTS President Cooper noted the City is currently recruiting for OMPD Advisory Board and more information about the process is available on the City's website.
