CALL TO ORDER Chair Ruth called the meeting to order at 6:00 p.m. 1.A ROLL CALL Present: 8 - Chair Maria Ruth, Vice Chair Joshua Clark, Committee member Barbara Benson, Committee member Kyle Guzlas, Committee member Rhianna Hruska, Committee member Kim Murillo, Committee member Brock Milliern and Committee member Rhonda Olnick Absent: 1 - Committee member Candace Jacobs 2. APPROVAL OF AGENDA The agenda was approved. 3. APPROVAL OF MINUTES 19-0184 Approval of January 17, 2019 of Parks and Recreation Advisory Committee Meeting Minutes The minutes were approved. 4. PUBLIC COMMENT - None 5. ANNOUNCEMENTS The grand opening for the modular pump track at the Isthmus Park is scheduled for March 21 at 4:00 p.m. Committee members Murillo and Benson (alternate) volunteered to serve on the Thurston County Conservation Futures Committee to review grant applications. City advisory committee chairs and vice-chairs will meet with the General Government Committee on March 27, 4:00 - 6:00 p.m. The Arbor Day stewardship event is scheduled for March 23 from 9:00-2:00 p.m. The Earth Day stewardship event in partnership with the PARC Foundation is scheduled City of Olympia Page 1 Parks and Recreation Advisory Meeting Minutes February 21, 2019 Committee for April 20 at Percival Landing. As part of the event, the City will present the Jay Butts Award to Maria Ruth. 6. BUSINESS ITEMS 6.A 19-0177 Oly on Ice - Seasonal Ice Rink Report Associate Director Scott River gave an overview of the new ice rink 2018 season. For the 2019 season, the Department plans to expand the rink size, improve the non-skater experience, improve skate rentals and extend the season into January. The report was received. 6.B 19-0174 Woodruff Park Tennis & Pickleball Project Briefing Project Engineer Jake Lund gave an update on the tennis court project at Woodruff Park. The new concept design includes 2 reconstructed tennis courts and 6 new dedicated pickleball courts, as well as upgraded parking and ADA access. The project will be completed in early 2020. The report was received. 7. REPORTS A. North Capitol Campus Heritage Park Development Assoc. - Funding for the Eastern Butte will not be allocated until after the Capitol Lake Environmental Study is complete. 8. QUESTIONS OF STAFF AND FUTURE AGENDA ITEMS A public meeting on three proposed dog park sites will be held on April 1. 9.
