1. CALL TO ORDER
Chair Ruth called the meeting to order at 6:00 p.m.

2. APPROVAL OF AGENDA
The agenda was approved.
3. APPROVAL OF MINUTES
3.A 20-0196 Approval of February 20, 2020 Parks and Recreation Advisory
Committee Meeting Minutes
The minutes were approved.
4. PUBLIC COMMENT - None
5. ANNOUNCEMENTS
Planning & Design Manager/Staff Liaison Laura Keehan reminded Committee members
to complete the Open Public Meetings Act training which is required for all members.
Capital project updates:
- Dog parks are delayed due to permits and public hearings.
- The ADA wall project at LBA Park is complete.
- Woodruff Park sports courts project is underway and should be completed by July.

New Committee members Cearns, Sandy and Barnes introduced themselves.
The recognition was received.
6. BUSINESS ITEMS
6.A 20-0399 Parks Current Status Update
Parks, Arts & Recreation Director Paul Simmons gave an update on the status of parks
since the COVID-19 quarantine. He included information on budget cuts, parks
maintenance changes and open/close procedures for parks. Committee members
asked clarifying questions.
The discussion was completed.
6.B 20-0275 Regional Aquatic Facility Feasibility Study Update
Mr. Simmons gave an update on the Aquatic Facility Feasibility Study timeline and
process. Committee members Sandy and Barnes volunteered to serve on the project's
stakeholder committee.
The discussion was completed.
6.C 20-0398 Revise PRAC 2020-2021 Work Plan Due to COVID-19
Committee members discussed the Work Plan and made revisions according to City
Council’s recommended three-tier approach to help address the COVID-19 emergency.

Outdoor Adult Fitness Equipment & Fitness in Parks
Arts Program

Yelm Highway Master Plan
Aquatic Feasibility Study
Chair Ruth will write a letter to City Council. Members asked that a statement be added
to the letter to say that parks are integral and vital for recovery of the community.
The discussion was completed.
6.D 20-0272 Letters of Support for 2020 Park Grant Applications

Committee
The Committee unanimously voted to approve writing letters of support for
the grant applications.
6.E 20-0260 Yelm Highway Community Park Master Plan Concepts
Ms. Keehan updated the Committee on the Yelm Highway Master Plan progress. She
reviewed three concept designs. Members asked clarifying questions.
The report was received.
7. REPORTS
Committee member Hruska announced the Olympia Metropolitan Park District (OMPD)
Advisory Committee will meet on July 8. Committee member Murillo will be added to the
meeting agendas to report on the Regional Climate Change Plan. Committee members
Barnes and Sandy will be added to the meeting agendas to report on the Aquatic Facility
Feasibility Study.

4. PUBLIC COMMENT

prior to the start of the meeting. Written public comments will be emailed to all committee members.
During this portion of the meeting, citizens may address the Advisory Committee or Commission
