1. CALL TO ORDER
The meeting was called to order at 6:00 p.m.

3.A 20-0476 Approval of May 21, 2020 Parks and Recreation Advisory Committee
Meeting Minutes
The minutes were approved.
4. PUBLIC COMMENT
Chair Ruth stated several public comment emails were received from tennis and
pickleball players interested in the court reconstruction at Woodruff Park. She noted
pickleball had been requested in the last Parks Plan and the current project will
accommodate both pickleball and tennis players. She described ways for the public to
engage with the upcoming Parks Plan update process. Committee member Milliern sent
an email about the growing popularity of pickleball that was read by staff. Staff shared
information about the current project.

Staff announced an email will be forwarded to Committee members with details about
new changes associated with Phase 3 of the COVID-19 reopening plan.
6. BUSINESS ITEMS
6.A 20-0477 Stewardship Program Modifications Due to COVID-19
Park Stewardship Supervisor Amy Stull and Program Specialist Jennifer
Gessley-Gayman shared a presentation on the Parks Stewardship and Volunteers in
Parks programs. The presentation centered on modifications staff has made to the
programs in light of restrictions associated with COVID-19. A discussion about how to
involve more members of the community and volunteers ensued.
The discussion was completed.
6.B 20-0478 Olympia Parks, Arts & Recreation Plan Update
Parks Planning & Design Manager/Staff Liaison Laura Keehan gave a presentation
about the upcoming Olympia Parks, Arts and Recreation Plan update process. The Plan
will delve deeper into areas of Equity and Inclusion. Committee members discussed
ideas for public engagement and some members volunteered to be involved with Pop-up
events at parks.
The discussion was completed.
