1. CALL TO ORDER
The meeting was called to order at 6:00 p.m.

2. APPROVAL OF AGENDA
The agenda was approved.

22-0465 Approval of April 21, 2022 Parks and Recreation Advisory Committee
Meeting Minutes
The minutes were approved.
4. PUBLIC COMMENT
The following people spoke: Allison Costalias, Logan Merriweather, and Bob Jacobs.
5. ANNOUNCEMENTS
Laura Keehan will join Angel Nava the first Thursday of every month for a walk through
tour of the Armory Creative Campus.
Reminder for PRAC members to complete their stipend paperwork.

Director of Parks Planning and Maintenance Sylvana Niehuser provided updates.
8. QUESTIONS OF STAFF AND FUTURE AGENDA ITEMS
Chair Ruth asked when PRAC will be briefed on the Percival Landing Revision. Staff
responded it will be pushed to the fall.
Committee member Guzlas asked if the concept design signs at Yelm Highway Parcel
will be taken down. Staff responded signs will be taken down and some will be updated.
Chair Ruth asked how public comment about playground fences impact moving toward
actual install of fences. Staff answered Parks will look in to it and consider whether
temporary fencing could be used in the meantime.

4. PUBLIC COMMENT
During this portion of the meeting, community members may address the Advisory Committee or
Commission regarding items related to City business, including items on the Agenda. In order for the
Committee or Commission to maintain impartiality and the appearance of fairness in upcoming matters
and to comply with Public Disclosure Law for political campaigns, speakers will not be permitted to make
public comments before the Committee or Commission in these two areas: (1) on agenda items for
which the Committee or Commission either held a Public Hearing in the last 45 days, or will hold a Public
Hearing within 45 days, or (2) where the speaker promotes or opposes a candidate for public office or a
ballot measure.
REMOTE MEETING PUBLIC COMMENT INSTRUCTIONS:
Live public comment will be taken during the meeting but advance registration is required. The link to
register is at the top of the agenda. You will be given the choice to comment during the registration
process. After you complete the registration form, you will receive a link by email to log onto or call into
Zoom for use at the meeting date and time. If you plan on calling into the meeting, you will need to
provide your phone number at registration so you can be recognized during the meeting. Once connected
to the meeting you will be auto-muted. At the start of the public comment period, the Chair will call
participants by name to speak in the order they signed up. When it is your turn to speak, your
microphone will be
unmuted.
