PUBLIC COMMENT - None 5. ANNOUNCEMENTS City Staff Liaison Brian Wilson announced the Eagles Hall painting project was a success. He reminded the Board about the United Way Day of Caring event on Friday, August 26, 2014, where similar painting/cleaning projects will be completed. 6. AMBASSADOR UPDATE Downtown Ambassador Program Manager Rob Richards updated the Board about the following: * Longtime Ambassador, Chelsea Baker, has been hired by the City to be a Parking Enforcement Officer. The hiring process for Chelsea's replacement will begin in early October. * The ambassadors will assist the PBIA with the 2015 billing assessment. * The ambassadors have begun a Tuesday cleaning event at the Artesian Commons. 7. 2015 BUDGET IDEAS The Board held a discussion to brainstorm 2015 budget ideas. All ideas were welcome and will be used to survey ratepayers in a 2015 budget building exercise. The ideas were: More Flower baskets * Purchase additional art plinth * More community art projects * Replace banners * Butt bin maintenance * Personal history markers * Historical Plaques * Poetry in sidewalks * Parking lot projects * Signal control box wayfinding * Increase Ambassador contribution * Event sponsorships * Translation Services * Holiday Promotions * More Advertising * Additional Holiday Event * Parking Token Promotion * Increase Dash Service * Mural Projects * Good Neighbor Campaign * Additional Training for Business Owners * Paint Sprayer * Recycling Downtown 8. COMMITTEE REPORTS Partnership Committee (presented by Boardmember Collins): * The PBIA has purchased a "Buy Local" membership * Quarterly newsletters have been mailed City of Olympia Page 2 PBIA Advisory Board Meeting Minutes September 11, 2014 Clean & Safe Committee (presented by Vice Chair Adams): * The butt bins for the pilot program will be finished this week. * There are two upcoming meetings in October. Bar and Tavern Owners/Tenders will meet October 14 at 2:00 p.m. in the Council Chambers. The 300/400 block of 4th Ave E business owners will meet October 17 at 9:00 a.m. in the Council Chambers. Marketing Committee (presented by Boardmember Dean): * Walking maps have been distributed and are working. Business owners should contact the Ambassadors (570-3900) if they need more. * Flower Baskets are performing well. * Boardmember Adney will be hosting a "Get Online for Cheap" seminar in City Hall Room 207 on August 17 at 5:30 p.m. 9.
