Minutes
Oroville Planning Commission
Wednesday, April 17, 2017
The meeting was called to order at 4:38 by Arnie Marchand.
Commissioners Present: Arnie Marchand, Suzie Seger, and Valorie Johnston;
Absent: Judy Dunston, Luiz Perez, alternate Marc Egerton
Staff present: Deanna Rowton and Christian Johnson
Suzie Seger made a motion to approve the minutes for the March meeting. It was
seconded by Valorie Johnston and it passed.
Suzie made a motion to amend the by-laws to read consistent with the vote last
month to change the meeting day from Wednesday to Monday, once a month. Valorie
seconded the motion and it passed.
Christian asked for input on how the members wanted to proceed. It was a general
consensus that they wished to start from the infrastructure and work outward.
Christian stated that the Parks and Recreation section of the Comprehensive Plan
needs to be adopted with inclusion of Osoyoos Lake Veteran’s Memorial Park. He will
bring a draft version of that section to the next meeting, along with updates to population
and various other statistics revised and updated.
After discussion it was determined that the key points to the future meetings will
be: 1) working on the Comprehensive Plan from infrastructure outward; 2) amending
the Parks and Recreation section to include OLVMP; 3) right of way widths throughout
the city; 4) tiny houses and additional units; 5) lakeshore development and 6) airport
overlay;
There will also be discussion about Land Use and the Priority Planning Area, to
extend to grounds outside the city. There is a need for the boundaries to be pushed out
in order to consider what might hypothetically take place outside city limits that could
affect the city.
The members were encouraged to bring their copy of the Comprehensive Plan to
the meetings as we will actively be working on it.
The meeting was adjourned at 5:26.
The next meeting will be May 15th, 4:30 – 5:30.
