Oroville Civil Service Monday, November 23, 2020 Meeting called to order at 4:30 pm by Chairman Richard Werner. Present: Commissioners Richard Werner, Mike Sibley Others present: Emily Finsen and Police Chief Michael Langford. Absent: Joe King Approval of the minutes from the September 28, 2020 regular meeting. Motion by Mike to approve the minutes as written, second by Richard; motion carried. No scheduled appearances. A potential Oral Board date has been moved from Saturday, December 12, 2020 to Saturday, February 13th, 2021 to create a new eligibility list for future reference if/when needed. Publication of the Oral Board will be sent in January to start the process. Commission reviewed sections 1-3 of the General Rules and Regulations and made corrections for future adoption. Review of Position #2, Joe King, expiring January 1, 2021 was reviewed and agreed upon to renew for another 6 years pending upon City Council’s approval. Commission reviewed Chief Langford’s letter of hire for Randy Taft and Taylor Pokos along with the resignation of Taylor Pokos’ position with the Department. Richard made the motion to approve the letter, second by Mike; motion carried. Chief Langford announced that Scott Schmid was hired October 14, 2020 and has been in training at the Department while waiting to enter academy in February of 2021 pending COVID restrictions. Finsen handed out sections 4-6 of the General Rules and Regulations to be reviewed and discussed at next meeting. Next Regular Civil Service meeting to be held Monday, December 28, 2020. As there being no further business, motion by Mike to adjourn the meeting at 5:15 pm, second by Richard; motion carried.
