PROCEEDINGS OF THE PARK & RECREATION COMMITTEE The Park & Recreation Committee of the Village of Oxford, Marquette County, Wisconsin met on Tuesday, September 26, 2023 in the Council Room of the Oxford Village Hall. Chairperson Loretta Drinkwater called the meeting to order at 4:00 PM with Committee Members Erwin Meyer, Carrie Rozek, and Dennis Zacharias in attendance. Also in attendance were Public Works Director Mullens and Deputy Clerk-Treasurer Amy Maier. Motion made by Meyer/Rozek to approve the agenda as printed. Motion carried. The electrical box in the large park pavilion was addressed. Due to recent vandalism and safety concerns, the Committee considered options to restrict access to the electrical box. Director Mullens will look into installing a clasp to the existing set up. Those reserving the pavilion next year will be issued a key for electrical box access. The park surveillance system was discussed. Director Mullens will contact Marquette Adams Telephone Cooperative for a quote for one additional stationary camera, and the information will be presented at the October regular board meeting. Director Mullens informed the Committee of possible 2024 park purchases and projects to be built into the 2024 budget. The new score booth steps should be painted at a cost of about $150.00. A new fence drag should be purchased next year, and it should cost about $100.00. Director Mullens advised that when the courts need to be maintained again, resurfacing will not be an option. The entire courts will need to be ripped out and replaced. A concrete court system may be looked into at that time. The Park & Recreation Budget for 2024 was discussed and prepared for presentation to the Finance Committee. Chairperson Drinkwater advised that since the COLA (Cost of Living Adjustment) information wasn’t available as of the date of this meeting, the library budget isn’t complete and prepared for presentation. When the budget information needed is available, it will be included in the Village’s proposed General Fund Budget prepared by the Finance Committee next month. Motion made by Meyer/Rozek to forward the Park & Recreation Budget as recommended to the Finance Committee. Motion carried. Motion made by Rozek/Zacharias to adjourn at 4:37 PM.
