Park & Recreation Committee

PROCEEDINGS OF THE Village of Oxford Park & Rec Committee The Park & Recreation Committee of the Village of Oxford, Marquette County, Wisconsin met in session at 6:00 PM on Tuesday, March 26, 2024, in the Council Room of the Oxford Village Hall. The meeting was called to order by Committee Chair Drinkwater at 6:00 pm. The following Committee Members were present: Chairman Drinkwater, Trustees: Rozek, Zacharias, and O’Brien, and President Meyer. Also in attendance were Village resident and Fire Chief Jason Zacharias, Elizabeth Shumate and architect Jim Nellessen from GEC, and Deputy Clerk- Treasurers Kimmie Kongslie and Amy Maier. Motion made by Rozek/Zacharias to approve the agenda as printed. Motion carried. Elizabeth Shumate delivered copies of the plans used in the CDBG Grant application from 2023 and copies to date of the DNR Stewardship application to each of the Committee members and others present. Lengthy discussion ensued as to the changes desired prior to sending in the DNR Stewardship Grant application due on May 1, 2024. Discussion focused on the handicap bathrooms, the size of the storage and concession areas currently in the Concession stand and how much room is needed in the new Municipal Park Building construction. After much discussion and contemplation, it was decided that Jim, the architect, will rough out a draft for the Village Board meeting on April 3, 2024, as per requests from the park & rec committee. Elizabeth S. requested the committee to go through the questionnaire with her for the DNR Stewardship Grant applications she handed out. The committee went through these questions with her, and added or deleted info she needed. The committee will go through the information and add any ideas prior to April 3, 2024, Village Board meeting. Elizabeth will attend this meeting for any additional application information. GEC will propose two (2) bids for the new Municipal Park Building. One bid will be for concrete block, and one bid will be for siding. GEC is requesting two (2) park & rec committee members travel to the GEC offices in Portage prior to May 1, 2024, deadline for application, to discuss with the drafters and architects the new plans to send with the application. Suggested members are Chairman Drinkwater and Trustee O’Brien.
