RFD 17-236 Treaty 6 Acknowledgment and Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada - Calls to Action Proposed Motions 1. That Committee of the Whole receive the Administrative Report for information, as presented. 2. That Administration be directed to contact First Nations and Metis organizations with a presence in, or adjacent to, Parkland County to discuss appropriate language Parkland County can use at the start of its meetings to acknowledge Treaty 6 and the important historic and contemporary relationship between First Nations, Metis and municipal government. 3. That Administration be directed to participate in the New Beginnings initiative along with Spruce Grove and Stony Plain. A motion was made by Mayor Shaigec that a Council subcommittee be established regarding the Treaty 6 Acknowledgment and Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada-Calls to Action and that the subcommittee to make a presentation to Committee of the Whole in the third quarter of 2018. The motion carried unanimously.
