Mr. Denk participated in the Boiler Makers Labor Day Fall Challenge Fundraiser, along with ADMAR Construction Equipment & Supplies, Forest City Erectors, and Cleveland Building Trades, who also received recognition for their efforts. Motion carried. Motion made by Councilman Euerle seconded by Councilwoman Shuman to grant the Variance for property at 6407 Goebel Drive, which proposes to install a driveway 20 feet in width, 4 feet wider than code allows. Motion carried. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Councilman Euerle – Stated, the Planning Committee of Council met this evening to discuss the proposal to vary for the applicant Angela Koytash, for property located at 4203 Brookpark Road. The request is to operate an online or indoor car dealership on a parcel not zoned Commercial Manufacturing “B”. Motion made by Councilman Euerle seconded by Councilman Casselberry to grant the variance with the stipulation that there would not be any cars for sale outside of the building, as recommended by the Board of Zoning Appeals and the Planning Committee of Council. Motion carried. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Councilman Euerle – Stated, the Planning Committee of Council met this evening to discuss the proposal to vary for the applicant C & C Concrete Solutions for property at 12931 West Linden Lane. The request is to install a driveway 12 feet in width. Motion made by Councilman Euerle seconded by Councilman Casselberry to grant the variance as recommended by the Board of Zoning Appeals and the Planning Committee of Council. SHUMAN (By Request – Safety Director) AN ORDINANCE APPROVING AND RATIFYING A COLLECTIVE BARGAINING AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE CITY OF PARMA AND THE INTERNATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF FIRE FIGHTERS, LOCAL 639, AFL-CIO THROUGH DECEMBER 31, 2026, PURSUANT TO CHAPTER 4117 OF THE OHIO REVISED CODE, AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY Mayor DeGeeter – Thanked Council and Auditor Day, who has worked closely with administration along with attorneys, the Safety Director, and the Fire Chief and Assistant Fire Chief. Stated that the administration feels that this contract is much more favorable and is something that the City can afford. Stated that he appreciates all the calls and meetings that went into this negotiation in order to avoid arbitration. Safety Director Coury – Stated that he believes that this is a good agreement, which lays the foundation for sustainably and financially securing the future of one of the best fire departments and preserves the excellent working relationship the City already enjoys with the Fire Department. Further thanked Auditor Day for all the analysis and Council for their support in rejecting the fact finder’s report, which then gave the opportunity to go back to the negotiating table to secure a fair and reasonable agreement for both parties. No: None; Reconsidered Ordinance No. 156-24 is adopted as amended. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ PUBLIC SESSION No one wished to speak. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ MISCELLANEOUS BUSINESS Mayor Timothy DeGeeter – Thanked the Building Trades for their fundraising donation of $5,000 each to We are Parma Proud and Parma Animal Shelter. Added that $5,000 for these organizations is a huge deal and that he looks forward to working with them on this fundraiser again next year. Safety Director Coury – No comment. Service Director Vannello – Stated that with the Marlborough Park/Petruska Park Tree Canopy Grant, there will be 500 new trees planted this year in Parma parks. Auditor Day – Stated that looking ahead to the end of the year, we will need to hold a Special Meeting to finalize the books and it looks like the best date for that will be Monday, December 30 if possible. Further stated he appreciates Council working with Council Clerk Saban to get the date on the calendar. Law Director Tuma – Thanked Council for passing Ordinance No. 174-24. Treasurer Mastroianni – No comment. 9  Councilwoman Zacharias – No comment. Councilman Casselberry – Stated that he is a member of the Building Trades as a union electrician and is so proud to be a part of the organization, thanked them for their donation to the non-profit organizations. Councilman Divis – Stated that he recently made a presentation about what a Councilman does to special needs students at Normandy High School, and it was really wonderful and an honor to be there. Councilman Euerle – Thanked Safety Director Coury for his prompt help with things that come up, this week he was able to quickly get a deer sign added in his ward after a request came in. Councilman Kussmaul – Thanked the Council Office staff for their help with the Quarry District Picnic. Councilwoman Lime – Thanked Building Trades for their donation to We are Parma Proud. Stated that the organization is so appreciative, as fundraising is always an ongoing effort. Further stated that she has been receiving emails asking Council to participate in Truck or Treat events that schools are doing and would love to see some participation. Lastly, advised Council to look for details in the future about Frosty Fest and Parma’s 100th birthday celebration. Councilwoman Shuman – No comment. Councilwoman Wilson – Stated that she recently was involved in a 911 call from a neighbor and that the Parma Fire Department was very responsive and was quickly able to get the fire out.
