RECORD OF PROCEEDINGS SPECIAL COUNCIL MEETING CITY OF PASADENA May 12, 2021 – 4:00 p.m. CALL TO ORDER The regular Council Meeting of the City of Pasadena, Harris County, Texas, was called to order by Mayor Jeff A. Wagner. ROLL CALL COUNCIL PRESENT: Jeff A. Wagner – Mayor COUNCIL MEMBERS BRUCE LEAMON - District B CARY BASS - District G DON HARRISON - District C THOMAS SCHOENBEIN - District H CODY RAY WHEELER - District E Absent: Councilmembers Ornaldo Ybarra, Sammy Casados and Phil Cayten. Also present at the Council table was Linda Rorick, City Secretary. INVOCATION – Rex Lindberg, Director of Community Relations PLEDGES OF ALLEGIANCE – Councilmember Bruce Leamon COMMUNITY INTEREST COMMENTS IN ACCORDANCE WITH CHAPTER 551.0415 OF THE GOVERNMENT CODE Councilmember Leamon – Reminded everyone of the Runoff Election scheduled June 15, 2021, commenting it’s important to go out and vote. Wished wife, Sylvia, an early Happy Anniversary; this Monday they will celebrate 46 years of marriage. Councilmember Harrison – Extended anniversary wishes to Councilmember Leamon and wife, Sylvia. Stated he had two words to say “get vaccinated”. Councilmember Wheeler – Passed; no comments. Councilmember Bass – Passed; no comments. Councilmember Schoenbein – Noted this week is National Police Week in recognition of police officers. Announced there will be a short memorial service to honor Pasadena’s fallen officers at 6:00 p.m. in front of City’s Police Department this evening. Urged SPECIAL COUNCIL MEETING 1 Minutes: 05-12-21 4:00 p.m. everyone to go out and support our Strawberry Festival this weekend at the Pasadena Convention Fairgrounds; kickoff for weekend begins at 5:00 p.m. this Friday. CITIZENS WISHING TO ADDRESS COUNCIL Robert Jeter III – Understands that this meeting is for the purpose of certifying the May 1, 2021 election. Discussed a number of concerns he has with Harris County conducting our elections. Thinks Council should ask more questions before entering into further election contracts with the County; that there needs to be more work to improve the process. However, noted he found “no evidence of voter tampering, election fraud, voter- flipping or any attempts to affect the outcome unfairly” and agrees with Council approving and certifying the vote for this election.
