CITY OF PELICAN RAPIDS COUNCIL MINUTES 3-29-00
The City Council of the City of Pelican Rapids met in regular session on Wednesday, 3-
29-00, at 3:30 p.m., in the Pelican Rapids Library meeting room.
Present: Mayor Wayne Runningen, Council Members Paulette Nettestad, John Waller
III, Dave Gottenborg and Denise Magnusson. Absent: none. Also present: Deputy
Clerk-Treasurer Glenys Ehlert and Utilities Superintendent Brent Frazier.
Meeting called to order by Mayor Wayne Runningen.
The following items were added to the agenda: Henry Building Systems and City’s
Comprehensive Plan.
Motion by Nettestad, seconded by Magnusson to appoint Julie Lammers to the Park
Board and LeRoy Martens to the Planning Commission. Motion passed unanimously.
Motion by Waller, seconded by Gottenborg to authorize hiring two people for seasonal
positions in the park and street departments. These positions are temporary, full time
positions that will not exceed 68 days. Motion passed unanimously.
Motion by Gottenborg, seconded by Nettestad to authorize proceeding with crack filling
project with the firm submitting the lowest quote subject to Administrative Assistant
Richard A. Jenson’s approval. Motion passed unanimously.
Mayor Runningen reviewed the Street Lighting Project. Bid opening will be 4/21/00,
2:00 p.m., at City Hall. The award will be 4/26/00, 3:30 p.m., at regularly scheduled
council meeting in the Pelican Rapids Public Library meeting room. Council discussed
banner bars and decided to spec project as planned with seasonal decoration bracket
on the street side of the poles and banner bars on the sidewalk side.
Board of Review will be 4-24-00, from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m., at the library.
Mayor Runningen reported that City Attorney Scott Dirks has contacted Gerry Henry
and he is willing to work with the City to clean up property in the Industrial Park.
Council Member Gottenborg questioned how work is coming on the Comprehensive
Plan. Mayor Runningen said Economic Developer Skip Carpenter has been working on
the plan and the Planning Commission will soon start reviewing it.
