REVISED SPECIAL MEETING OF THE PIEDMONT CITY COUNCIL GEORGE FINA MUNICIPAL BUILDING - 314 EDMOND ROAD NORTHWEST Monday August 30, 2021 at 9:00 AM MEMBERS PRESENT: Mayor Kurt Mayabb, Mayor Pro Tem Kevan Blasdel, Councilman Ron Cardwell, Councilman Jonathan Hisey, Councilman Melissa Ashford, and Councilman Austin Redus ABSENT: None STAFF PRESENT: City Clerk Jennifer Smith, City Attorney Michael Segler, and City Secretary Arielle Garcia. 1. CALL TO ORDER - Mayor Kurt Mayabb called the meeting to order at 9:00am 2. ROLL CALL - City Clerk Jennifer Smith and a quorum was present 3. BUSINESS ITEMS – a) Discussion, consideration, and possible action of appointing an Acting City Manager to serve until such time as an Interim City Manager is appointed. Mayor Kurt Mayabb made a motion to appoint City Clerk Jennifer Smith as acting City Manager. Motion was seconded by Mayor Pro Tem Kevan Blasdel Vote Was: AYE: Mayor Pro Tem Kevan Blasdel, Councilman Ron Cardwell, Councilman Jonathan Hisey, Councilman Melissa Ashford, and Councilman Austin Redus NAY: None b.) Discussion, consideration, and possible action to authorize and direct the City Attorney to investigate and make a recommendation concerning a lawful and appropriate severance agreement with Jason Orr, if any, and further direct the City Attorney to notify the Mayor and Council when the recommendation is complete and provide the recommendation to the City Council and Mayor at a Special or Regular Meeting called for that purpose. Mayor Pro Tem Kevan Blasdel made a motion to get a recommendation of severance from City Attorney Michael Segler for former City Manager Jason Orr. Motion was seconded by Councilman Melissa Ashford. Vote Was: AYE: Mayor Pro Tem Kevan Blasdel, Councilman Ron Cardwell, Councilman Jonathan Hisey, Councilman Melissa Ashford, and Councilman Austin Redus NAY: None c.) Discussion, consideration, and possible action to authorize and provide for Mayor Kurt Mayabb, on behalf of the governing body, to inquire into the conduct of any or all offices, departments or agencies of the city, investigate municipal affairs, and report back such findings as deemed appropriate, as authorized by 11 O.S. 10-106 of the Oklahoma State Statute and other applicable laws. Mayor Kurt Mayabb addressed the council This allows me to communication on behalf of the Council to the City Clerk Jennifer Smith.
