MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE
MAYOR’S YOUTH ADVISORY COMMITTEE HELD ON
THURSDAY, AUGUST 9, 2017 IN THE TOWN COUNCIL CHAMBERS
LOCATED AT 1360 N. NIELS HANSEN LANE, LAKESIDE, AZ 85929
A. Call to Order: Vice-Chairman Nate Campbell called the meeting to order
At 7:05 a.m.
Pledge of Allegiance: Nate Campbell led the Pledge of Allegiance.

B. Minutes:
Vice-Chairman West moved to approve the following minutes:

The motion was seconded by Member Bratsch and was carried with an 9-0 voice vote.

C. Old Business:
C.1 Discussion on 2018 League Annual Conference at the Phoenician Resort
Hotel and Conference Center on August 21-24, 2018, Agenda, Attendees and Travel
Arrangements.
Recreation Coordinator Malaina Spillman suggested informed committee that the
member going to the conference would need to meet outside the Town Hall on August 21 at
12:00. There will be four of the nine MYAC members attending.
D. New Business:
D.1 Review and Discussion of MYAC By-Laws
Recreation Coordinator Malaina Spillman passed out newly-corrected by-laws. The main
correction was that the Mayor’s Youth Advisory Committee will now meet the second Thursday
of every month at 7:00 am, unless a changed officially in a regular meeting.
D.2 Review, Discussion, and Legal Action Regarding FY2018-2019 MYAC
Meeting Schedule.
Historian Rapaz moved to approve the following:

The motion was seconded by Vice-Chairman West and was carried with a 9-0 voice vote.
D.3 Discussion Regarding Poster Board and Special Projects and Fundraising.
Committee discussed having a bi-fold poster board including: a picture of Mr. Kean, Jack Barker
Memorial Park, and fundraisers that were to help raise money for the Mr. Kean Memorial.
Chairman Campbell declared that member s attending the 2018 League of Cities Conference
should meet at the Town Hall on Saturday, August 11, 2018 to make the poster board.
D.4 Discussion and Approval of FY2018-2019 Goals, Priorities, Special Projects,
and Fundraising.
Committee decided to have the money for the Mr. Kean Memorial bench by October 18,
2018.THe money goal for the total project is $2,000. Committee also decided to plant apple tree
as soon as possible. Mayor Irwin informed committee that the tree could not be planted until the
construction utilities were done. Committee discussed upcoming fundraiser on August 18, 2018.
The MYAC would be hosting a bake sale at the Pinetop-Lakeside Days at Mountain Meadow
Park. For the said bake sale, each member of MYAC would be responsible for bringing two
dozen individually wrapped baked goods. Committee discussed having mini games near the bake
sale booth such as corn hole, ring toss, a dunk tank, and bubbles. Committee also discussed
having a canopy over the bake sale booth. Committee then discussed doing concessions at the
Movie in the Park, Cars 3, on September 15, 2018. Lastly, committee decided to help out and do
a bake sale at the golf tournament at Bison Country Club on October 6, 2018, and that they
would show up at 7:00 am unless Mayor Irwin informed them of a better time at the September
meeting. For this bake sale, committee decided to stray a little bit from the traditional bake sale
and sell coffee, tea, hot chocolate, etc.
E. Public Comments:
Chairman Nate Campbell called for public comments.
Malaina Spillman handed out contact information for all MYAC 2108-2019 members.
F. Adjournment:
There being no further business at this time, the meeting was adjourned at 7:56 a.m.
