MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE
MAYOR’S YOUTH ADVISORY COMMITTEE HELD ON
THURSDAY, OCTOBER 13, 2022, IN THE PINETOP-LAKESIDE TOWN
HALL LOCATED AT 325 W. WHITE MOUNTAIN BLVD.,
LAKESIDE, AZ 85929
A. Call to Order: Chairman Eddy called the meeting to order at 7:08 a.m.
Pledge of Allegiance: Chairman Eddy led the Pledge of Allegiance.

B. Consent Agenda:
B.1 Member S. Grzelak moved to approve the following minutes:
Mayor’s Youth Advisory Committee Regular Meeting September 8, 2022.
The motion was seconded by Member Smithson and was carried with an 7-0
voice vote.
C. New Business:
C.1 Review and Discussion Regarding Open Meeting Laws.
Kristi Salskov led the discussion and explained Robert’s Rule of Order and open
meeting laws. Mayor Irwin, Malaina Spillman, and Kristi role played a circumstance of
approving an agenda item. Member Eddy, Member Dimaliwat, and J Grzelak participate
in a mock example of approving an agenda item. Ms. Salskov explains the steps
regarding legal actions: state business, ask if any further discussion in needed, ask for a
motion and a second. Mayor Irwin taught how to read resolutions ((eg. 22-12) is read as
“twenty-two dash twelve”. In addition, open meeting laws were explained; everything
has to be public.
C.2 Review and Discussion for Goals, Priorities and Projects.
Member Smithson discusses clothing drive. Member Spillman suggests comfort
kits (blankets, books, snacks, coloring, toys) along with a canned food drive. Malaina states the
town and Blue Ridge High School have been less connected over the past 15 years. Member
Eddy agrees MYAC needs to be involved in the community. Kristi Salskov suggests a
collaboration with Sirens and Sleigh Bells which provides materials for families in need during
the holiday season and a unique experience with a local PD officer. Member Smithson agrees to
chair the Sirens and Sleigh Bells MYAC committee and Member S. Grzelak along with Member
Eddy will assist with this project. Member Smithson and Member Eddy were given contact
information and with communicate with Mary at the police department. Sienna Grzelak will
create a flyer for this project. The deadline for the organization of this project is Friday, October
21, 2022.
C.3 Discussion and Legal Action Regarding Serving Lunch at Pinetop-Lakeside
Community Center
Member Eddy moved to approve the following legal action:
Serving Lunch at Pinetop-Lakeside Community Center
The motion was seconded by Member Dimaliwat and was carried with an 7-0
voice vote.
MYAC has agreed to serve lunch at Pinetop-Lakeside Community center the
second Thursday of every month. Member Horne will send out reminders over the
MYAC group chat. MYAC will serve lunch on November 10, 2022 @11:30. Brooke
Horne also will contact Dr. Theresa Dick regarding performing groups attending these
lunch serving sessions
D. Public Comments:
Mayor Irwin suggests to submit a survey response that can be found at
https://www.pinetoplakesideaz.gov. Member Eddy will talk to student council at Blue
Ridge for future communications between the town and the school.
E. Adjournment:
There being no further business at this time, the meeting was adjourned at 8:03 a.m.
