MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE MAYOR’S YOUTH ADVISORY COMMITTEE HELD ON THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 14, 2023 IN THE PINETOP-LAKESIDE TOWN HALL LOCATED 325 W. WHITE MOUNTAIN BLVD., LAKESIDE, AZ 85929 A. Call to Order: Chairman Smithson called the meeting to order at 7:04 a.m. Pledge of Allegiance: Chairwoman Smithson led the Pledge of Allegiance. Roll Call: Grace Smithson Chairman Jesse Stroup Vice Chairman Brooke Horne Secretary Jackson Woods Treasurer Absent: Joe Grzelak Member Sienna Grzelak Member Morgan Eddy Member Rain Dimaliwat Member River Rigg Member Also present: Mackenzie Valichnac Deputy Town Clerk Stephanie Irwin Mayor Annie DeRosier Marketing Coordinator B. Consent Agenda: B.1 Minutes of MYAC meeting held on August 10, 2023. With no quorum at this time, no legal action was taken. C. New Business: C.1 Update on Upcoming Projects: Backpack Snacks, Nexus Collaboration, Comfort Kits, and Sirens and Sleight Bells. MYAC will pack backpack snacks at 6pm on Wednesday, September 20, at Blue Ridge High School. This will become an ongoing project. Members Woods, Smithson, and J. Grzelak will meet with Rob Hephner to discuss backpack snacks on a podcast. Keith Johnson will talk to Mr. Webb, the high school principal, to discuss NEXUS coming to the high school.  MYAC will contact local dentists to see if they will donate dental hygiene for siren and sleigh bells bags: floss, toothpaste, toothbrush. Fundraiser ideas include bake sales and going to businesses to ask for donations. Frank Smith and Associates is willing to help contribute. Other needed items are candy canes, soaps, shampoo, and conditioner. Town events to fundraise at are the color run and possibly the Christmas tree lighting. Every meeting, MYAC members will come with at least 3 letters for comfort kits. C.2 Review of League of Cities and Towns Annual Conference. Smithson and Stroup shared projects they liked. One MYAC group from AZ wants to connect MYAC groups to zoom more often. Other projects ideas include school supply donations, a teen leadership night, and mile cleanups. Member Horne will get with NHS at the high school to help clean up the mile starting from Yellow Jacket. C.3 Discussion and Legal Action Regarding Serving Lunch at the White Mountain Community Center. With no quorum at this time, no legal action was taken. MYAC members will serve lunch at the White Mountain Community Center on September 20th. Moving forward, MYAC members will serve lunch on the 2nd Thursday of every month. C.4 Presentation Regarding Upcoming Town Events Upcoming town events include the Fall Festival Parade on September 23rd, the Color Run on October 14th at 9am, the Autumn Fest on October 28th, and the Christmas Tree Lighting on December 1st.
