Pursuant to due call and notice thereof, a meeting of the Health & Safety committee was
held, Monday, August 14, 2017 Municipal Building, 800 Borner Street, Prescott, WI
54021.
Call to Order: Chairman Dravis called the meeting to order. Members present were
Galen Seipel and Jack Hoschette. City Administrator Jayne Brand represented staff.
Steve Sizemore presented information on a proposed bus service within the City of
Prescott and also a bus route which would go to Treasure Island. The route for the city
would be weekdays from 6:00 am to 6:00 pm. The route to Treasure Island would run
every hour. The funding for the bus service would be from private funding but would be
willing to work with the city if there are state or federal funds for the in city service. The
bus size would be 20 to 40 passengers. Alderperson Hoschette stated it would be nice to
include the public beach, water front and Freedom Park in the summer. He also stated
the park at Washington County has about 300 people there a day. The committee felt the
bus service should also stop at the banks and Dollar Store for the senior citizens. There
was also a question if the bus should go to Mary T’s on Dexter Street. It was questioned
how the bus stops were going to work. There would be some which would just have a
sign others might have a shelter and bench but whatever is used it needs to safe for
people to get off and on the bus. Steve Sizemore stated he hasn’t worked with
transportation but he will be working with others who have worked with the movement of
people. There was a question about storage and maintenance and office space for the
service. Steve stated his company will handle complaints and questions. The committee
stated the plan presented is a good concept plan. Steve stated they will be working on a
more refined plan and timeline.
