City Council Meeting
January 10, 2022
The regular Riverdale City Council meeting of January 10, 2022 was called to order at 6:00 PM
by President Orth.
Present: Jerry Orth, Garth Zimbelman, Dick Cheatley and Auditor Del Kolke
Absent: Jonna Taylor
Cheatley moved to approve the December 13, 2021 meeting minutes. Zimbelman seconded.
Motion carried.
Cheatley moved to approve the bills. Zimbelman seconded. Motion carried.
Cheatley moved to approve the agenda as amended. Zimbelman seconded. Motion carried.
Public Comments:
Women’s Club representatives, Brenda Beran and Dianna Anderson, provided an estimate for
vinyl flooring to replace carpet in Coffee Shop. Item tabled until February meeting for further
review.
Mike Dirk, 322 6th Street, would like to fill in ditch to ease mowing. City engineer will look at
the property and provide feedback. Cheatley moved to require a written plan and drawing be
submitted to council for ditch improvements/alterations for approval. Zimbelman seconded.
Motion carried.
New Business:
Zimbelman moved to approve Building Permit No. 22-1 for replacement of current residence on
Lot 13 Block 2 Angler’s Acres. Cheatley seconded. Motion carried.
Cheatley presented options for router replacement at the water treatment facility to provide
additional security and compatibility with updated software. Cheatley moved to approve
purchase of Fortigate 40F Firewall for an estimated cost of $5,000. Zimbelman seconded.
Motion carried.
AJ Tuck, Moore Engineering, revisited the ND Dept. of Water Resources upcoming committee
meeting dates (Jan. 27 & Feb. 23) for raw water line project consideration.
Reports:
Zimbelman moved to designate Bravera Bank and Bank of North Dakota as the City of Riverdale
depositories. Cheatley seconded. Motion carried.

Auditor provided traffic violations summary for 2021 showing a total of $3,012 collected in fines
and building permit report for seven (7) building permits issued in 2021 with a total value of
$375,000. Building permit fees amounted to $1,335. City election will be held June 14 with
April 11 the deadline for filing petitions. Suggested dates for the next Water Advisory Board
meeting are Jan. 19 and Jan. 26. City hall will be closed Monday, Jan. 17 for Martin Luther King
Jr. Day and also Jan. 31-Feb. 4.
Orth reported damage by city maintenance to the US Postal Service drive-up mailbox and
repairs have been made.
Zimbelman received several resident comments on snow removal.
Next meeting is scheduled for Monday, February 14 at 6:00 PM.
Meeting adjourned at 6:55 PM.
