City Council Meeting January 9, 2023 The regular Riverdale City Council meeting of January 9, 2023 was called to order at 6:00 PM by Mayor Taylor. Present: Alex Taylor, Garth Zimbelman, Dave Fryda, Mike Dirk, Dick Cheatley and Auditor Del Kolke Dirk moved to approve consent agenda items. Cheatley seconded. Motion carried. New Business: Fryda moved to increase employee salaries 5%. Fryda retracted motion and discussion ensued. Cheatley moved to increase wages for auditor and water plant operator 5% and public works employee 7%. Fryda seconded. Roll Call: Zimbelman nay, Fryda aye, Dirk aye, Cheatley aye. Motion carried. Clay Kruger - $31.20/hour Todd Martinson - $28.65/hour Del Kolke - $45,448/annually Hearing: Zimbelman moved to impose a $100.00 fine and two (2) week suspension of Iron Oar Grill & Pub liquor license. The suspension is waived if no violations occur in 2023. Cheatley seconded. Roll Call: Zimbelman aye, Fryda aye, Dirk aye, Cheatley aye. Motion carried. Reports: Fire Dept. received $100.00 from WRT Denim Days and also $5,000.00 from WRT Board of Directors for assistance in purchasing new radios. Taylor will have Lakeside Electric provide information on updating city shop lighting to LED. Taylor and Dirk will attend McLean County Commission meeting January 17 to apprise them of Plaza Building I condition which houses the McLean-Mercer Regional Library. Dirk continues gathering estimates for Plaza Buildings renovations. Roof for Building I is $140,000 and electrical upgrade $10,000. Another alternative is moving tenants from Building I into Building II which would require new HVAC systems ($25,000) and remodeling of existing spaces. An option to generate necessary funds for these projects is selling vacant property adjacent to plaza buildings. Cheatley reported the automatic transfer switch for the generator has been received and will be installed soon. Auditor provided traffic violations summary for 2022 showing a total of $1,923 collected in fines and building permit report for seven (7) building permits issued in 2022 with a total value of 01/09/2023 Page 2 $408,700. Building permit fees amounted to $1,046.25. City hall will be closed Monday, Jan. 16 for Martin Luther King Jr. Day and also Feb. 6-10. Next meeting is scheduled for Monday, February 13 at 6:00 PM.
