City Council Meeting May 8, 2023 The regular Riverdale City Council meeting of May 8, 2023 was called to order at 6:00 PM by Mayor Taylor. Present: Alex Taylor, Garth Zimbelman, Dave Fryda, Mike Dirk, Dick Cheatley and Auditor Del Kolke Cheatley moved to approve the consent agenda. Fryda seconded. Motion carried. Guests: AJ Tuck, Moore Engineering, noted the pre-construction meeting for Phase II of gate valve replacement project is scheduled for 1:00 on May 18. Raw water line plans are 90% complete. Carrie Meyer, J2 Studio, presented two (2) floor designs for plaza buildings. Discussion ensued with commentary from the audience allowed. A cost estimate for the implementation of the designs was requested. New Business: Fryda moved to designate the Central McLean News-Journal as the official newspaper for the City of Riverdale. Cheatley seconded. Motion carried. Cheatley moved to approve gaming site authorization for American Legion Post 91 to conduct games of chance at Iron Oar from July 1, 2023 – June 30, 2024 and gaming site authorization for Garrison Area Improvement Association to conduct games of chance at Knights Bar & Grill and Spillway Coffee House from July 1, 2023 – June 30, 2024. Fryda seconded. Motion carried. Council tabled police contract until June and instructed auditor to invite sheriff to that meeting. Reports: Fire Dept. responded to a fire at the Downstream Campground on April 22. Flushing of fire hydrants will take place during monthly meetings. Taylor assisted with moving new picnic tables to the campground. A job description for filling water operator vacancy will be completed. Zimbelman will address reducing campground manager costs for next year. Auditor will include in the next utility bill newsletter the availability of wooden picnic tables from the campground. Fryda reported the back-up batteries for the switchgear were installed by Otter Tail Power Co. Cheatley noted turbidity meters and colorimeter have been installed. 05/08/2023 Page 2 City hall will be closed May 11-12, Monday, May 29 for Memorial Day and also June 1-2. A contract for building inspecting services has been provided by Interstate Engineering and will be reviewed prior to signing. Next meeting is scheduled for Monday, June 12 at 6:00 PM.
