City Council Meeting January 8, 2024 The regular Riverdale City Council meeting of January 8, 2024 was called to order at 6:00 PM by Mayor Taylor. Present: Alex Taylor, Garth Zimbelman, Dave Fryda, Mike Dirk, Dick Cheatley and Auditor Del Kolke Zimbelman moved to approve the consent agenda. Fryda seconded. Motion carried. New Business: Dirk moved to designate Bravera Bank and Bank of North Dakota as the City of Riverdale depositories. Cheatley seconded. Motion carried. Cheatley moved to increase Del Kolke and Clay Kruger’s salaries 5%. Fryda seconded. Motion carried. Jeremy Dirk - $27.50/hour Clay Kruger - $32.75/hour Del Kolke - $47,736/annually Cheatley moved to pursue joining NDPERS (North Dakota Public Employees Retirement System) for city employee’s retirement. Fryda seconded. Employees will be able to choose enrollment in one of two options or waive participation. Those declining will be offered 9.26% on gross earnings at year-end, an increase from 5%. Motion carried. Reports: Dirk presented a quote of $6,300 for loader tires from OK Tire. Dakota Truck & Farm will be contacted for a quote as well. Bullinger Tree Service is planning on tackling city tree removal late March. Property owners interested in their services are encouraged to contact them directly to be placed on their schedule at the same time. Cheatley reported the modifications to address water pressure during water tower repairs have been tested and work as expected. The recent water break was attributed to a faulty clamp. Auditor provided traffic violations summary for 2023 showing a total of $755 collected in fines. City election will be held June 11 with an April 8 deadline for filing petitions. Positions to be filled include two (2) council member positions (4-year term), three (3) park board member positions (4-year term), and one (1) park board member position (unexpired 2-year term). Contractors working for the city will be required to file a W-9 prior to start of project to comply with federal filing requirements. City hall will be closed Monday, Jan. 15 for Martin Luther King Jr. Day and also Feb. 5-9. Next meeting is scheduled for Monday, February 12 at 6:00 PM.
