City Council Meeting

City Council Meeting April 8, 2024 The regular Riverdale City Council meeting of April 8, 2024 was called to order at 6:00 PM by Mayor Taylor. Present: Alex Taylor, Garth Zimbelman, Mike Dirk, Dick Cheatley and Auditor Del Kolke Absent: Dave Fryda Dirk moved to approve the consent agenda. Zimbelman seconded. Motion carried. Guest: North Country Trail representatives, Glee Mayer and Mark Zimmerman, would like the trail to travel through Riverdale so hikers can explore and learn the history of the community rather than travel the outskirts. Council requested a written proposal prior to action. Old Business: Cheatley moved to allocate $5,000 from the Electrical Enterprise Fund for power line clearance. Dirk seconded. Motion carried. Zimbelman moved to solicit hay bids with same specifications previously used. Cheatley seconded. Motion carried. Residential homes being utilized as vacation rental properties was discussed. Auditor will gather sample ordinances from other communities as well as zoning and licensing procedures. New Business: Dirk moved to approve gaming site authorization for Fort Abraham Lincoln Foundation to conduct games of chance at Iron Oar from May 1, 2024 – June 30, 2024. Zimbelman seconded. Motion carried. Dirk provided a quote from RTS Shearing for crushing of concrete pile at landfill. This information will be filed for future reference. Reports: Fire Dept. representative reported oil was changed on all equipment. New SIRN radios have been received and programming will be scheduled. Cheatley noted water plant valves have been ordered and estimates for installation are being sought. A drawing for the order of candidate’s names on the ballot was conducted. Council: Jerry Orth, Ken Skuza. Park Board: Brent Charging, Amy Orth. The ongoing water service line inventory has had 74 responses and property owners are reminded to complete this important survey. 04/08/2024 Page 2 Next meeting is scheduled for Monday, May 13 at 6:00 PM.
