City Council Meeting

City Council Meeting October 14, 2024 The regular Riverdale City Council meeting of October 14, 2024 was called to order at 6:00 PM by Mayor Taylor Present: Alex Taylor, Ken Skuza, Dave Fryda, Mike Dirk, Jerry Orth and Auditor Del Kolke Fryda moved to approve the consent agenda. Dirk seconded. Motion carried. Guest: Moore Engineering representatives provided a Street Improvements Presentation and answered various questions regarding process and necessity of a street project. Old Business: Mark Zimmerman, North Country Trail representative, requested approval for the North Country Trail to travel a designated route through Riverdale as shown on provided map. Council decided to have hikers travel around Riverdale instead. Dirk moved to purchase a John Deere 5095M tractor with listed attachments at a cost of $110,708.48 and finance for three (3) years. Orth seconded. Roll Call: Skuza aye, Fryda aye, Dirk aye, Orth aye. Motion carried. New Business: Skuza moved to approve variance request for Lot 1 Block 1 Kennedy Addition allowing a manufactured home. Orth seconded. Roll Call: Skuza aye, Fryda aye, Dirk nay, Orth aye. Motion carried. Reports: Taylor and his work crew volunteered approximately forty (40) man hours to clean up dead trees and brush at campground. He also opened the landfill after the recent wind storm to allow property owners to dispose of fallen limbs. Skuza has an additional three (3) trees slated for removal at the campground. Reel Convenience electrical project to convert from overhead 3-phase power to single phase underground 240V is complete. Otter Tail will remove poles at their convenience. Dirk reported several roof leaks were discovered and repaired at Plaza Building II. Twin City Roofing provided a total roof replacement quote as well. Orth indicated the Tonka holding tanks at the water treatment facility are rusting and require replacement. The automatic transfer switch for the generator is due to be installed this month. 10/14/2024 Page 2 Auditor informed council a mandated letter regarding lead water lines will be mailed along with utility bills this month. First District Health will be hosting a Flu and COVID shot clinic in Riverdale on Wednesday, Oct. 16 from 11:00 – 1:00. Due to Veteran’s Day, the November meeting will be held Thursday, Nov. 14 at 6:00. Next meeting is scheduled for Thursday, November 14 at 6:00 PM. Meeting adjourned at 8:10 PM.
