Minutes of the Cemetery Board Meeting Tuesday, July 17, 2018 REGULAR MEETING 4:00 P.M Committee Member Present: Jack Ferguson, President Jim Bloodhart, Vice President Jeremy Hurley, Secretary Gabriel Casaus, Member Jake Trujillo, Member Juan Oropesa, Liaison Staff Present: Ruben Esquivel, Cemetery Superintendent Daisy Diaz, Administrative Assistant Others Present: Frank Sosa, American Legion Darla Harris, Lagrone Funeral Home Call to Order The meeting was called to order at 4:00 p.m. by President, Jack Ferguson. Committee members present Bloodhart, Hurley, Casaus and Trujillo. Approval of Agenda Mr. Trujillo moved to approve the agenda as presented. Mr. Casaus was the second. A voice vote was unanimous and the motion carried, the July 17, 2018 agenda was approved. Approval of Minutes Mr. Trujillo made a motion, seconded by Mr. Hurley to approve the minutes of the May 15, 2018 meeting. A voice vote was unanimous and the motion carried. Action NONE Non-Action Items 3. Sexton’s Report- Superintendent Ruben Esquivel reported a total of 27 burials for May, and 35 for June with one service being a double cremation service. As of July 17, 2018 a total of 12 burial services have been conducted at South Park Cemetery and General Douglas McBride Veteran’s Cemetery. 4. Bookkeeper’s Report- Mrs. Diaz reported 1 transfer, and 1 lot sale for May with a revenue of $26,250.87. For June revenue was $26, 675.87 with 1 transfer, 1 pay off, 1 lot sale, and 1 contract. 5. Discussion on Cemetery Workshop- Board members agreed to hold the Cemetery workshop on September 25, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. Public Comments Mr. Oropesa reported that City Council had approved to add to the cemetery budget 2 Grounds Maintenance positions and a full-time administrative assistant for this fiscal year 2018-2019. Mr. Bloodhart suggested that on the next board meeting a discussion on true cost of cemetery fees be added to the agenda.
