Commission Meeting
October 27, 2014
6:00 p.m.
I. Call to Order
Chair, Bob Edwards, called the October 27, 2014 meeting to order at 6:02 pm.
II. In Attendance
The following were present:
Members: Bob Edwards, Jim Waldrip, Jane Ann Oldrup, Roy Gunn, and Mandy Owens.
Staff: Tim Williams, and Elaine Mayfield.
Guests: Pam Boyd, Mark Boyd, Randal Seyler, Melanie Licon, and Kyle Stokes.
III. Approval of Agenda
Jane Ann made a motion, seconded by Roy Gunn, to approve the agenda as presented. All
were in favor, motion carried, the October agenda was approved.
IV. Approval of Minutes
Jane Ann Oldrup made a motion, seconded by Mandy Owens, to approve the agenda with
the correction of adding Roy Gunn as a present member. All were in favor, motion carried,
the September 2014 minutes were approved.
V. Randy Willis Park Addition-Lion’s Hondo Little League
Lions Hondo Little League would like to expand and make a 50/70 field, and add parking.
Jane Ann Oldrup made a motion, seconded by Roy Gunn, the Commission is in support and
would like to move the request on to the Parks and Recreation Committee. All were in favor,
motion carried.
VI. Martin Luther King Park Walking Trail Ratification
Mandy Owens made a motion, seconded by JaneAnn Oldrup to ratify the trail, all were in
favor motion carried.
VII. Yucca Center Open Forum results and report
5 public forums were held 55 people attended in total of the attendees,
52% of questionnaire responders voted to build a new recreation center.
29% of questionnaire responders voted to remodel/renovate the existing Yucca Recreation
Center.
19% of the questionnaire responders stated they would like to remodel/renovate the
existing Yucca Recreation Center and build a new recreation center.

There were no community comments.
IX. Staff Reports
a. Cahoon Pool Update
Cahoon Pool got relined, in doing that the pool will have to stay filled which makes it an
ongoing maintenance job for the Parks department. Mr. Williams did a cost analysis it
will take about $130,000 to run the pool.
b. Parks Signs to be placed
The Nancy Lopez Golf Course at Spring River and the Altrusa Park are both in line to get
new Parks signs.
c. Fee Schedule and Cost Recovery Discussion
Mr. Williams gave the Parks and Recreation Commission a brief description on the fee
schedule and cost recovery that the Parks and Recreation Department is working on.
Mr. Williams will bring it before the Commission once it is complete.
d. Parks and Recreation Reorganization Update
The Parks and Recreation reorganization has been put on hold until after the new city
manager starts.
