Parks and Recreation Commission Minutes Monday November 24, 2014 I. Call to order Chair, Bob Edwards, called the November 24, 2014 meeting to order at 6:04 pm. II. In Attendance The following were present: Members: Bob Edwards, James Edwards, Barry Mathison, Roy Gunn, Mandy Owens and Jane Ann Oldrup. Staff: Tim Williams, Laurie Jerge, Elaine Mayfield, and Mike Ramey. Guest: Randal Seylar, and Larry Connolly III. Agenda approval Jane Ann Oldrup made a motion, seconded by James Edwards, to approve the agenda as presented. All were in favor, motion carried, the November 24, 2014 agenda was approved. IV. Minute approval Jane Ann Oldrup made a motion, seconded by Roy Gunn, to approve the October minutes as presented; all were in favor, the motion carried, and the October 27, 2014 minutes were approved. V. Portland Loo Product Report Bob Edwards talked to the City Planner and was told they were planning on the Fisk building looking at asbestos removal. The company will bring it in for roughly $4,000. Barry Mathison motioned to recommend Portland Loo as an alternative project seconded by JaneAnn Oldrup all were in favor. VI. Cielo Grande Trail Paint on the Trail Concerns JaneAnn Oldrup stated there is paint everywhere on the trail. JaneAnn made a motion, seconded by Mandy Owens to add guidelines not to use paint and charge a deposit. All were in favor. VII. Trail Concept Discussion Tim Williams gave a brief demonstration of a few different trail ideas. VIII. New Recreation Center Update A resolution was sent to City Council to build a new recreation center and was approved. Mr. Williams is working with the new City Manager to see the direction to go. IX. Community Comments No community comments X. Staff Reports a. Project Update- Customer Service In July Tim Williams divide staff into project teams. Mike Ramey summarized what the customer service team decided would help the staff welcome the customers and leave a great impression on the community. b. Project Update- Marketing Plan Elaine Mayfield summarized a few key points that the Marketing team felt would help The Parks & Recreation Department be successful and reach the whole community. c. New Project Information Tim Williams informed the Commission that he is starting the second round of job shadow and project teams. XI. Fee Schedule and Cost Recovery Model Tim Williams handed out a draft version of the new fee schedule and cost recovery model that he would like to implement. XII. Unfinished Business None XIII. New Business Bob suggested contacting Romo Villegas and Steve Smith on regards of signage on Nancy Lopez Golf Course XIV. Consider & Set date for Next Meeting Monday, January 26, 2015 at 6:00 pm.
