Regular Meeting of the Public Safety Committee Held in the Conference Room at City Hall June 22, 2015 Notice of this meeting was given to the public in compliance with Sections 10-15-1 through 10- 15-4 NMSA 1978 and Resolution 14-36. ROLL CALL The meeting convened at 3:00 p.m. with Chair Denny presiding and Councilors Sandoval, Sanchez and Velasquez present. Staff present: Bill Bartlett, Karen Sanders, Mike Mathews, Devin Graham, Brad McFadin and Phil Smith. APPROVAL OF AGENDA Councilor Sanchez moved to approve the June 22, 2015 regular Public Safety Committee Meeting Agenda as presented. Councilor Sandoval was the second. A voice vote was unanimous and the motion passed. APPROVAL OF MINUTES Councilor Sandoval moved to approve the May 26, 2015 Public Safety Committee meeting minutes. Councilor Sanchez was the second. A voice vote was unanimous and the motion passed. NON-ACTION ITEMS Police Department Report Chief Smith discussed the statistics and numbers for the Police Department and Animal Control. He mentioned the body cameras have been of great assistance. A digital evidence technician will be hired later this year to redact videos from the body cameras. Fire Department Report Chief Graham gave an update on the Fire Department. The Investment Project has been a great opportunity to interact with the community. The Fire Department is currently recruiting for eight openings. Code Enforcement Report Bill Bartlett discussed weed notices, demolished structures and the Community Investment Project. With Independence Day festivities quickly approaching, officers are on main thorough- ways getting rid of weeds and garage sale signs. Mr. Bartlett mentioned it is graffiti season. He encourages the public to contact Code Enforcement if they need graffiti removed. Code Enforcement will remove the graffiti with a signed waiver at no charge. Emergency Management Report Karen Sanders gave an update on Emergency Management. The largest incident for the month was the Club House fire. Multiple trainings and exercises have been performed with the Department of Health and Homeland Security. ADJOURN The meeting adjourned at 4:04 p.m.
