WELCOME VISITORS
The First Order of Business was a welcome from Chairman Tarpley to new at-large
Member Wesley White, who will serve a 2-year term on the Board.
The Second Order of Business was to review and approve the minutes of the January 27,
2014 Regular Meeting. Member Sims made the motion to approve the minutes as written.
The motion was seconded by Member White and passed unanimously.
The Third Order of Business was a Public Hearing requesting a variance of 3.25 feet
from the required 10-foot side yard setback in order to add to an existing home at 811
Eastwood, submitted by Barbara Blalack. (BOA.14.04.3604)
City Planner Harris said an existing concrete slab on the east side of the house projects 3.25
feet into the 10-foot side yard setback required in R-1. Applicants want to construct an
attached garage on the end of the house and would like to use the whole slab, rather than
have 3.25 feet of slab extending beyond the new garage's exterior wall. That would render
that portion of the slab of little use. They are asking for a 3.25 variance from the required
ten-foot setback to allow the garage wall to be constructed 6.75 feet from the property line.
Member Sims made the motion to approve the variance as submitted. The motion was
seconded by Member White and passed unanimously.
Adjourned.
