Oakland Cemetery Commission Minutes Tuesday August 20, 2024 The Russellville Oakland Cemetery Commission met for the monthly meeting on Tuesday August 20, 20024 at 5:00 p.m. in the 2nd Floor Conference Room of City Hall. The meeting was called to order at 5:00 p.m. by Commission Chair Walter Hudson. Attending in Person: Director Stephanie Warwick, Assistant Tish French, Commission Chair Walter Hudson, Commission Vice-Chair Mary Schwartz, Commission Secretary Jami Mullen, and Commissioner Mindy Hudson. Director Warwick noted that a quorum was present. Old Business: 1. First Item of Business was to review the Minutes from the July 16, 2024 meeting. A motion to accept the minutes was made by Commissioner Mindy Hudson. The second was made by Commissioner Mary Schwartz. Motion approved. 2. Second Item of Business was to consider the Financial Report status update presented by Commissioner Mary Schwartz. She reported on current activity. The current operating account balance is $138,959.44. The Trust account balance is $247,130.34. A motion was made by Commissioner Mindy Hudson to accept the financial report as presented. Commissioner Walter Hudson made the second. Motion approved. 3. Third Item of Business was a report from Director Warwick regarding the status of Cemetery Operations. There was some clean up to do following the recent storm on Monday August 19th. The maintenance crew removed limbs and small branches. Director Warwick also updated the commissioners as to corrections to some name spellings that have been made in the Oakland Cemetery records. 4. The Fourth Item of Business was further discussion concerning the tabled proposal to dissolve and retire the Oakland Cemetery Commission. Commissioner Walter Hudson expressed that he felt there was still a purpose for the board. He feels there are still opportunities for growth and more progress. Commissioner Mindy Hudson expressed her opinion that the commission is an important component to aid with the Oakland Cemetery vision for the future. After discussion from all commissioners Commissioner Mindy Hudson made a motion to continue utilizing the Oakland Cemetery Commission. Commissioner Schwartz made the second. The motion passed. Director Warwick expressed a desire to better utilize our resources and personal contacts for growth and to provide educational forums for the community going forward. The next meeting will be October 15th.  5. The Fifth Item of Business was to open the floor to the public for any concerns/suggestions. No members of the public were present. New Business: 1. The First Item of New Business was to set dates for the Fall Workshops at Oakland Cemetery. The following dates and times were chosen. September: Saturday 14th and 28th from 9:00am to 12:00pm Tuesday 10th and 24th from 4:00-6:00pm October: Saturday 12th and 19th from 9:00-12:00pm Tuesday 8th and 22nd from 4:00-6:00pm No other New Business Items.
