Regular Council Meeting August 12, 2024
Mayor Stan Townsend called the meeting to order at 6:30 p.m. In attendance were Darwin Sietsema,
Brian Baartman, Chris McCurdy, and Stu Peterson. Also in attendance were Tim Haase, Jordan Odegard
and Darrin Haroldson.
The Pledge of Allegiance was recited by all in attendance.
Minutes of the July meeting and July 22nd Special Meeting were approved by M/Sietsema 2/Baartman/cd
unanimously.
Tim Haase was here representing Rodney & Clara Hartson for the fire at their residence on June 2, 2024.
The council mention that the house will either need to be fixed up or torn down. Tim Haase said he
would pass on the information. The city attorney will be contacted for guidance on this issue.
Jordan Odegard from Bollig was here to go through the final lead service line deliverables with the city
council. He stated the report has been submitted to the MDH/UMN in July 2024. After completing the
inventory, the city has zero (0) lead service lines on the city side, eight (8) galvanized lead service lines
on the customer side that will need to be replaced, and two (2) unknowns that we need to investigate
further.
Wastewater Supervisor, Darrin Haroldson gave the council his report for the month of July and answered
the council’s questions.
Building permits for Dave Halsne to tear down brick wall on north end of building and tin building at 312
Aetna Street; for Haley Langswierdt to put a 6’ fence up around the property at 511 Main Street; for Stan
Townsend to put steel roof and siding to garage at 630 Leo Avenue; and a after-the-fact building permit
for Kyle Stensgaard for building a deck to front of house at 420 Evans Street were all approved by
M/Peterson 2/Sietsema/cd. Townsend abstained.
The July financials were presented and approved by M/Baartman 2/Peterson/cd unanimously.
Receipts = $65,358.39 Disbursements = $61,759.45
It was discussed and decided to pre-buy LP from Nutrien Ag Solutions for the Well-Site, Lift Station and
Community Center 500 gallons at $1.49/gallon and from CHS up to 4500 gallons at $1.599/gallon for the
City Shop and Fire Hall by M/Baartman 2/Peterson/cd unanimously. The Community Center will get
summer fill and be billed for that at $1.40 plus the rent of the tanks.
