Parks & Recreation Commission Meeting Minutes Regular Meeting Minutes November 7, 2018 6:30 PM The Parks and Recreation Commission of the Town of Sahuarita met in the Sahuarita Council Chambers, 375 West Sahuarita Center Way, Sahuarita, AZ 85629 on Wednesday, November 7, 2018. I. CALL TO THE PUBLIC Chuck Borozinski, Resident, is concerned the Anza Trail School softball fields and tennis courts are not maintained; and feels the IGA between the Town of Sahuarita and the Sahuarita Unified School District for public use when school is not in session is not working. III. APPROVAL OF MEETING MINUTES 1. Approval of the October 3, 2018 Commission Meeting Minutes Smejkal stated the October minutes include an update on the Anza Trail School IGA. BUSINESS 1. Discussion of a Proposed Ten Year Capital Improvement Project (CIP) Plan Smejkal explained this is the first review of a proposed five year Capital Improvement Project (CIP) plan for Fiscal Year 20 - 24. The department spent the year identifying other projects that meet the criteria of a CIP. Smejkal presented the CIP draft with attention to the proposed new projects and prior year projects with change to the targeted. Discussion ensued. Smejkal requested Commissioners identify additional projects. Discussion will continue at the December meeting. RESULT: DISCUSSION ONLY 2. Discussion on Proposed Revisions to the Parks and Recreation Area Design and Development Standards Manual Smejkal summarized the feedback of the October commission meeting to include the recommended changes. Discussion ensued on two main points: 1. Change the occupancy to 2.79 for multi family household. 2. Minimum build and in lieu fee percentage options - Commissioners undecided looking for a recommendation from the Director. An updated draft will be prepared for the December meeting. Director and Commissioner Reports Huckins introduced recently appointed Commissioner Jeff Allen. Allen provided the commission with a summary of his education and professional experience. Smejkal gave a brief review of the updated Commissioner Handbook, distributed. Approximately 11,000 attended Halloween Spooktacular, an increase over prior year. The Department is participating in the Pecan Festival with the Park and Play van; and will have an interest survey available in English and Spanish. Winter Festival is Saturday, December 15. Lights around Town Hall have been installed, and decorations will be going up before Thanksgiving. The Anamax Dog Park will reopen November 13th. Staff is working on the sand volleyball court renovations, which include a beach look. Quail Creek - Veterans Municipal Dog Park will close for overseeding after Anamax Dog Park reopens. Parks & Recreation Commission Meeting Agenda Pursuant to A.R.S. § 38-431.02 notice is hereby given to the public that the Sahuarita Parks & Recreation Commission will hold a meeting at the date and time specified below at the Sahuarita Town Hall Council Chambers, 375 West Sahuarita Center Way, Sahuarita, Arizona. Members of the Commission will attend either in person or by telephone conference call. To better serve our community, the Council Chambers is wheelchair accessible.
