IV. BUSINESS
1. 1. Past Citizen Survey Results and Future Facility Needs Survey
Parks, Recreation & Community Services Director Nanette Smejkal presented commissioners
with excerpted results from the 2015 and 2018 Town Citizen Survey. A draft facility interest
survey was also presented per request of commissioners at the December meeting. This
survey will be administered online and seeks information from citizens on the importance of
various park amenities.
Discussion ensued.
Chairperson Huckins clarified that previous Citizen Surveys had been administered per
household and questioned if this would be the case with the facility survey. Smejkal
stated that the survey would be available to any individual online who wanted to
provide feedback.
Commissioner Anderson stated that in her line of work, they had found that in person
surveys were more effective than mail-in surveys and wondered if staff might
administer surveys to people using park facilities. Smejkal explained that with COVID 19
precautions still in place, the department will focus on online participation.
Commissioner Zatkin suggested encouraging program participants at Anamax
Recreation Center to take the survey when it is available and to talk with the school
district about distribution. Smejkal noted that we would work with the Sahuarita Teen
Advisory Committee to encourage local teens to respond as well.
Vice Chairperson Thomas suggested including facility amenities like changing tables in
restrooms, green space, and adaptive equipment in the list of potential amenities.
Chairperson Huckins recommended a section for additional comments and feedback.
RESULT: DISCUSSION ONLY
